Go after Gerald Green hard for nothing, or go get T-Mac from the everything must go Hawks & play him at the 3 w/ Jeff Green & slide Pierce to the 2 gaurd. Or just start T-Mac at the 2 for limited until Avery Bradley gets back. But definitely NO LEE for anything over 2 million & definitely No draft picks, he's not worth it.
Firstly, when are people on here going to realise that Paul Pierce is NOT suited to play SG?
While he has a strength and size advantage, he doesn't have the quickness to stick with quicker guards (like Dwyne Wade) on defense. It's just not his game...and as he gets futher into his 30's that athleticism isn't going to improve.
Also why do we even care about future picks? Looking at the Roster we have now, unless something goes horribly wrong we should be a deep playoff team. Any first round picks we get are going to be LATE first round in drafts that are unlikely to be as deep as this years' one.
Add that to the fact that we already have a TON of talent with potential (Joseph, Melo, Sullinger, Johnson, Moore, Green, Bass, Bradley, etc) and we really don't have a dramatic need for more unproven young rookies that will take years to develop. At this point we have more value in guys who can produce right now and fill existing holes so we can maximise our chance of contending - and right now Lee gives us a LOT more value than an unproven draft pick that we don't even have yet.
We have Terry as a bench scorer at the guard position, but we need a second bench guard who can score off the bench yet is still big enough to defend more typically sized SG's, and Terry isn't suited to the latter task. Lee fits the bill.
Plus if we dont need him when Avery comes back (or if he doesn't perform) we can always trade him off pretty easilly at a later time.
As long as we don't need to give up any key players on the team, getting Lee is a fairly low risk, high payoff move.
