So, will the Dwight talks take a breather until January 15, or are we going to be bombarded with trade rumors all season long?

It sounded like Orlando were pretty firm on the idea of trading Dwight Howard before the season begins. They don't want to go through the media-circus again that they suffered through last season.

And in other news, a certain GM in Houston can't suppress his glee.

Then why the big "disengaging to get a coach" talk?

I think they're wavering on their resolve to trade him before the season starts, unless they get better offers at least.

A lot of time between now and the start of the season. No rush.

Yeah but I think the ineligble to trade players who sign new deals will gum up the works a ton.

Honestly, I think much like Howard, they haven't the least idea what they're doing. To some degree, it's understandable - they've got a top 3 superduperstar, and they can't get a thing for him. They'd do back flips to get the same package the Hornets got for Chris Paul. But instead they're looking at a max contract player everyone knows isn't worth it, an immature and injury prone young center who might not resign, and cap relief and a pu pu platter of mediocre prospects.

But at the same time, he's been on the market for 6 months. You know what's on the table. That really isn't going to change. It's time to make a decision.

Take the pu pu platter from Houston with the draft picks and be done with it.  Bynum doesn't want to play there, and probably doesn't want to play in Houston either.

If I'm Andrew Bynum, I want to stay in LA.  Period. he will be the marquee FA next summer (if Howard doesn't get his trade and re-up), and if he's traded elsewhere, he will be able to hold that team hostage a la Dwight.

Portland and Charlotte both ready to throw a max offer sheet at B-Lo. If you're seven feet tall and can run and chew gum at the same time, there's a big deal waiting for you in the NBA.

Nets ended trade negotiations for Howard. They needed to know if they had him by today for cap reasons or something from what I heard on ESPN Radio.
