to put that into perspective, big baby's career high "rebounds in a game" was 11 until 2011. he beat big baby's 3.5 year career rebound record in his 2nd summer league game.

in the first summer league game, sully scored 20 pts. avery bradley's rookie season high "points in a game" was 20 pts and it happened in the  82nd game of the season against the knicks. Sullys first career pro game tied avery's last rookie regular season record high points in a game.

For the record, as others have noted, Glen Davis had 19-14-6 in a Summer League game (his 2nd or 3rd).

Rajon Rondo was awful in the 2007 Summer League (his second year, I believe).  Gabe Pruitt replaced him and was great.

It's fun to get excited over rookies, but let's not put all that much stock into these results.

These stat comparisons to real games mean less than nothing.

Here's a fun quote from Adam Morrison's rookie year:
Quote
The Bulls took the lead late in Tuesday's contest versus Charlotte on a fade away bucket by Thabo Sefolosha with 3.1 seconds left, but a last-second tip-in and Adam Morrison's 29 points propelled the Bobcats past the Bulls, 88-87.
Yeah isn't Morrison a SL all-star every year?

Adam Morrison averaged 24 per game through his first four games in the Bobcats 2004 Summer League.

So I guess he is good enough to be a rotation guy? ROTFL.

I think Sully is really going to surprise a lot of fans. It's not like he has late first round talent. The guy just knows how to play.

I agree by the way.

But my point is that I like him because of his skills, talent level, and college production.  Not because of Summer League games that are dominated by Adam Morrison.

I never said that you did. I was just making a general statement about him.

lol... in general:

I remember one year Joe Forte averaged like 20 points during the summer league.  I remember Brandon Hunter averaging 16 and 8.  Sure, if you're a good player you'll probably put up good stats, but good stats does not equal good nba player.  Take them with a grain of salt.

In 2009, Anthony Randolph had summer league averages of 27 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2.2 steals and 1.3 assists while shooting 61%.  In one game had had 42 points.  To be fair, I actually think Randolph has a great future with the right team... but take it for what it's worth.

Every year people get overly excited about some random 2nd round scrub (a Gabe Pruitt, Orien Greene or something) getting big numbers in summer league.  Hopefully Sullinger ends up a real player, though.  BTW... if Fab Melo can't even get 15 minutes in Summer League... what does that say about his current level of basketball ability?  That's pathetic.  Hopefully it's just so we can showcase JaJuan Johnson/Moore/Joseph for a Courtney Lee trade.

Yeah, in 2002, Joe Forte and Kedrick Brown both made the Summer League 1st Team (with Flip Murray, Richard Jefferson, and Dion Glover).

1 solid starter, 1 solid role player, 3 wastes of time

Summer league does mean nothing but cream always rises to the top folks.   I am pretty happy with his passing and rebounding and hands.   We don't need a big time scoring four, but we do need rebounding and he can hit an open shot.  If he can go out and get us some boards he will help us a lot.
