Rashard Lewis and Ray Allen? Last I checked this team already had Miller/Battier not to mention James Jones. Is it me or are these signings redundant. Lewis and Allen are upgrades as shooters but if Miller and Battier don't retire don't they bring more of an all around game and defense? I hated losing Ray but if it meant the Heat not upgrading their PG or C positions then that's fine by me. Last I checked, Boston and New Jersey (with Howard) will be the powers in the East. How are the Heat going to defend the Rondo/KG and DWill/Howard duos? We have seen that Rondo destroys the Heat and I'm assuming DWill will do the same. and Howard will have his way with Haslem, Bosh, & Anthony. I didn't even get to the Lakers and their addition of Nash. Throw that Nash/Bynum/Gasol in there too as a nightmare matchup for the Heat. I know the Heat want to force teams to adapt to their small ball but they are just totally disregarding the fact that their main competition have arguably the three best centers in the game in Howard, Bynum, and KG. Arrogant if you ask me.

Turning Miami in the Magic from 3 years ago plus Lebron and Wade. The result: 200 point games every game.

They have proved that they do not need a great center or point guard to win a championship. With Dwade and Lebron as primary ball handlers there is no need for an upgrade at PG. There are 2 Centers in the NBA that really impact a game from that position and the Heat only have to play one to get to the finals. Even then the athleticism of Wade and James makes up for lack of size in a 7 game series.

Surround Bosh/Wade/James with shooters, kick out on double teams and BAM!

That is your answer.

Yeah, they did win the NBA title with that formula.  And we had Rondo and KG this past season.

James Jones and Mike Miller are both said to be considering retirement.

But overall, the gameplan in Miami is to get as many shooters around the Bosh/Bron/Wade.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

All they need around LeBron, Wade and Bosh are shooters and warm bodies.

Pat Riley might have laker blood (or Knicks blood if u are older) but  I wouldn't question his motives.  Man did laker show time and Knicks grind out defense half court offense.   Hate him if you will but Lebron is either top player or 2nd best in nba, add flopper wade, bosh and good athletes/shooters it's a tough squad to beat.  To paraphrase that lump of  :-X coal pitino Shaquille (insert dominant  big) isn't walking through that door.

I agree with this.  I hate the guy and he is my least favorite NBA personality.  But he has built multiple contenders in multiple identities.

Miller looks to be toast physically ... so Ray replaces him nicely. Battier stays for D. Rashard is like a reclamation project that may or may not see the floor. Bosh was pretty much all the big man they needed this year.

Riley likes reclamation projects.  they've had Eddy Curry on their roster the entire year, at the vetmin.  Lewis is a solid signing for them.  If he can regain 60% of his form, he'd be a nice backup for Bosh or Bron.

If Lebron playing a lot of time at PF, it allows Bosh and Haslem to man the 5 position, with Joel Anthony as a 3rd stringer, and they don't really need help at the 5.  The offense runs through Wade and Lebron, as mentioned, so they don't really need a PG who can do much more than shoot and play D.

He's filling roster spots with veterans for cheap $$. Veterans win championships, not rookies and/or NBDL guys or 2nd or 3rd year players who want a big payday but have not learned to play team ball yet.
