I don't think Dooling can be a key piece to this. I am not sure so I'd want some confirmation, but my understanding is that a player used in a sign and trade has to be signed for three years. So Houston would have to WANT Dooling.

While technically true, the last two years on the new contract can both be fully non-guaranteed.

I share your optimism that a package of JJJ, Moore, and Williams plus a draft pick could get this done.

Yeah, I think it has to be a first rounder, but I could see this being enough. Some similarity to Toney Douglas, non-guaranteed deals and second rounders for the much older Marcus Camby.
Go Celtics.

One point that everyone is overlooking -

At the very beginning of free agency, Houston will need cap room to sign Asik and Lin to offer sheets.  They can't sign (and then trade) Lee or take on Dooling's salary yet.  Their books are pretty full.

We will have to wait until New York matches the Lin offer (likely) or Chicago matches the Asik offer (possible).

Houston just has no room in the first week of free agency.

You gotta think if this gets done, it will be before we find out about the Howard trade. Houston is one of the front runners to land Howard.

I think whatever deal we give them that includes a 1st and/or 2nd rd pick will make it happen. They can use all the trade assets they can get their hands on.

S/T Dooling, Etwan Moore, a 1st rounder in 2013, and a 2nd in 2014 would get it done I think. It clears more cap for Houston, and gets them more ammo for a Howard trade.

I would gladly risk seeing Etwan Moore somehow develop in to a starter, and two later round picks for Courtney Lee. He can spot-start and give solid minutes, both in scoring and defense, off the bench. What was the point of getting KG back if they aren't going to surround him with a win-now mentality and roster?

I agree with most of this except that it doesn't give them more cap room.  Adding Dooling to their cap doesn't give them more cap room.  It gives them less, by whatever salary Dooling makes.
