The courtney lee trade is taking too long ; he wants to play here , and he is our best option . If danny wanted this it would of been done already . Cause for concern ?

it's gonna have to be a sign and trade, so its understandable since houston would want something in return

Idk but im gonna be extremely disappointed if we don't get him. I'm dying to see a bench of terry green LEE sullinger and hopefully MP. We will beat miami with that bench.

I think people are failing to realize many free agents haven't signed yet.

I don't think this is true at all.  Lee reportedly has 8+ teams interested in him.  I'm sure Lee's agent needs to gauge the interest from each team, and see what type of deal can be worked out.

The one major factor that is missing from that bench is a legit backup center for KG.

Don't be shocked if Lee and his agent are waiting to see how teams use their cap room on the bigger fish out there. They might be trying to get a bigger than MLE or Celtics size S&T option thats out there.

Furthermore the pumping up the C's as an option can also be a tactic to pressure team to offer a full MLE deal, or a bigger one if they have cap room.

I wish it was as simple as I want that player, go sign him quick.

Even when Lee picks the C's and Houston and C's agree on comp (if/when), it will still take a while. For one thing DA needs to time his moves for cap/tax/apron purposes.

This ^

Don't hold out much hope on this.  With 8 teams in the fold, acquiring him will be extremely tough.  He wants more than we can give, & that throws a wrench into things from the start.

If it's a sign and trade, we can give them any pick in the world, it still won't mean we can match the contracts up.  Picks don't count for money value, & that's where the struggle comes.

Unless Lee at 26 is more into winning than he is money.  I don't see it.  I'd love for it to happen, but its a hard one to get done.

Don't get your hopes up.

It would be a miracle if we got him.  The numbers just don't make sense for Lee to go for.  He'd not only be taking a 50% paycut from last year, he would be ignoring the RAISE and long term deal he was due this season.

Huh?

In a potential sign and trade he'd be getting a large raise from his current salary.

I'm definitely not holding my breath about getting Courtney Lee. He's not taking the LLE and we don't have much to offer in a trade. It doesn't seem like an easy deal to swing, so while there is mutual interest between the player and the Celtics, it doesn't mean there's mutual interest between the Rockets and the Celtics.

That's why we'd try to get him in a sign-and-trade.
