I really wish Rob Hennigen would sit Dwight down and say "Listen we understand that you want a trade and we are going to make that happen. We are not trading someone as valuable as you for pennies on the dollar. We have had enough of you running OUR organization. So heres the deal, you either accept the fact that you are going to go somewhere other than Brooklyn and work with us to find a team that meets your best interests as well as ours and somewhere you can agree to an extension. Or we are going to trade you for just a first rounder and cap relief to Toronto or Charlotte. Your choice."

Would be a huge slap in the face to Dwight. I have lost all respect for him after this fiasco.

A package of Noah, Deng, Gibson, Teague or some combo thereof would be pretty persuasive to me.

It is just too big a risk for Chicago.

-Brooklyn is the favorite, obviously.
-Los Angeles is the NBA's glamour franchise and probably thinks they can get an extension.
-Houston and Atlanta may be willing to take risks, as they are solid teams that are largely irrelevant.  Houston is in the tough spot of being too good to get a high pick but not good enough to make the playoffs or contend.  Atlanta has average to poor attendance despite a good team.  Both teams wouldn't be crushed by Dwight leaving them.
-Chicago is a contender as is, and potentially a long-term one.  Hard to risk that for what might be one year of Dwight.

Houston and Atlanta are mediocre enough that it is worth the risk.  Not worth the risk for Chicago.

ESPN is now confirming the report from HoopsWorld:

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets are discussing a multitude of trade scenarios with the Magic, offering to serve both as the team that would acquire Howard in a direct trade between the clubs and also as a third team that would participate in a trade that lands Howard with the Lakers and brings All-Star center Andrew Bynum to Houston.

The Rockets, in the latter scenario, would push to acquire Bynum from the Lakers while furnishing the Magic with a package of future draft picks and cap-friendly contracts to set Orlando up for a full-fledged roster reload. Sources confirmed a HoopsWorld.com report that the three-team trade construction that sends Bynum to the Rockets instead of the Magic -- with Orlando said to be concerned about its ability to re-sign Bynum for the long term -- gained traction Tuesday.

Bynum wanders around the league for years playing on multitude of teams....worse than Camby.  Bynum is starting center for the LA lakers...in most hoods it doesn;'t get any better.  Any job he takes leaving his LA gig , is gonna be uninteresting and LAME, he is spoiled by LA...no where else will his failed mentality be tolerated.  Maybe the HEAT with the witchdoctor, but they don't have the cap room for Bynum.

Who ever gets Bynum willbe very sorry. He has all the money he wants and won't play 100%.

Hmmm. I disagree with most of this.

1. Let's remember that Bynum is only 24.
2. He might be happier elsewhere, since he will get more shots than he will playing with Kobe and Gasol.
3. Kobe and Phil did get him to play right. Bynum has two NBA titles (injured for one, healthy for the other).  So we have no way to determine that nobody else will get through to him.  There is no evidence that he respects or likes Kobe.
4. I'd want to coach either . . . or have Doc coach either.
5. What's wrong with Marcus Camby?
6. It is odd to see a statement like this from someone who has Shaq in their screen name.  I don't remember him getting along with Kobe and playing for one team.

are you kidding me??? that team will have potentially 4 all stars - who at one time or another have dominated thier positions (except for Gasol).
