Sign Andrew Bynum as FA?

I read that Bynum is unwilling to extend his contract beyond this season, when he becomes an UFA, which is why Orl won't trade Howard there. Got me to thinking....

Will we have the cap room after this season to go after Bynum as an UFA?  Would have to be a max deal.  Does Pierce contract expire this year, or is it next year?

That would be awesome...

All of the C's potential cap room was utilized to sign Jeff Green, Brandon Bass, Jason Terry, and Kevin Garnett.

No, we've committed to Green/Terry/Bass/KG enough money that we'll have no cap space for a few years.

I don't think the team has any cap space next summer after signing Garnett, Bass and Green to multi-year contracts with Pierce and Rondo already on the books.

That is what ... about $52-55 million by themselves. Before cap holds and rookie contracts. Plus, possibly any other multi-year deals. Oh, Jason Terry, another $5 million.

Nope, no cap space.

I'd expect the Lakers to either re-sign A.Bynum or trade him to a team that plans to build around A.Bynum long term.

Either way, I doubt he ever really makes the FA market.

I think they keep him long term or move him for Howard, I just don't see Jim Buss accepting any other sort of return at this point.

Agree - he goes for Howard or gets a full max deal from LAL. Otherwise he walks and picks a team with cap space with a chance at winning. Dallas could be a factor. Houston too.
