Is Rondo a Max player

Totally contradictory but has there ever been a more incomplete player with a more complete game? We know he's not a great shooter yet if anyone can get a quadruple double its him. If there is one player capable of getting a 20-20-20 game its him. Some players just look different playing the game. They seem to toy with you. If they had a bad game its really not anything that you did to them its just that they were off that game...it happens. Rondo, Lebron, Kobe, and maybe Durant are the only players in my book who look that way to me.

If Roy Hibbert is a max player..... Rondo should be a Triple Double Max player..... Seriously.. Potential trip dub every night.. He deserves max money.. But.. His contract is great for us as it is... lol... DONT PUT THESE THOUGHTS IN RONDO'S HEAD OR HE'LL WANT OUT!!

I don't think Rondo will complain just yet.  He is making as much money as KG next year and still has 3 years left on that deal.

If he has another playoff run like he did last year and we get to the ECF/NBA Finals again, I expect Danny to visit the concept of extending him.  Unless you are sure there will be a huge drop off when he hits 30, I think extending him to 31/32 (again, assuming he does what he's done) isn't the worst idea in the world. 

You don't find franchise PG's who are this gifted at passing every day.

in the current NBA economy Max players are usually underpaid - LeBron, Kobe, Howard are all worth far more to their franchise than the franchise can actually pay them under the rules

Hibbert is probably worth about what the max is and Rondo is somewhere north of that (but south of the top players in the league) ...in my so humble opinion

"Max" means something less than it used to mean, under the new CBA. 

Rondo's not worth a "Joe Johnson-Max"-type contract (6/$120M), but they don't exist any more.  The "max" deals that are being shown to guys like Hibbert are 4/$58M, or $14.5M/year.  That seems about right for Rondo - and would be a massive underpayment for the league's REAL superstars, the LeBrons and Durants.

They do exist a max player deal is a moving target based on years of service in the league.

The key is that Rondo is not an MVP caliber player. Dwight Howard, Durant, LBJ, etc are all worth in excess to the "max". Other players are worth around that "max". These are the all-nba caliber players like Rondo, Deron Williams, etc. Then you get to the mere borderline all-stars like Hibbert, Gay, Z-Bo, etc. who might also get the max contract type dollars.

rondo could win mvp any of the next several seasons. He took a major leap in the playoffs, and everybody now knows this is rondos team.

No more catering to rays needs and inflated opinion of himself.

Rondo never had a single off game once bradley began starting over ray.

Yes, but more to do with the salary constraints than what Rondo as a player actually is. Though he's fully capable of becoming a "MAX Player" in the eyes of critics, just not there yet. He showed me a lot this past playoffs, now needs to be a bit more consistent with it.

  LeBron and Durant are two players. There are a lot more players that make the max than just them, Rondo's at least arguably better than a fair amount of them if not most of them.

Rondo runs this team and this system. He is the director out there. You dont average 11 assists per game and make an all nba defense team and not be an MVP candidate.
