alot has been said here that Rondo's contract is great for the Celtics. So we can agree that he is underpaid. Should his contract be renegotiated? When does he begin to grumble?

1. you cant renegotiate contracts with the new cba

2. rondo is happy.

3. rondos contract is fair. we played the risk that he may not develop back when danny ainge made the long term deal. it paid dividends.

I'm quite certain you can renegotiate contracts, but it can only be for raises, and you need to be under the cap if I recall these things correctly.

He's absolutely a max player, provided one of your other max players is a big.

Yeah, there's really no doubt in my mind he's a max player.

Especially if Eric Gordon and Roy Hibbert are...
(I know this year is crazy, but they are still getting the money regardless)

Yup. Given that a lot lesser point guards have been paid max contracts this off season. The Cs are certainly lucky that his contract is team friendly. And I sure hope it stays this way when contract negotiations begin.

He is a franchise player so to speak

I agree with the consensus.  In today's market place, he absolutely is.

I'm not sure if it makes sense for a team to spend 25% of its salary cap on Rondo, but he's a better option than a lot of the guys getting handed huge contracts.

He's definitely a max player.  He has a legitimate argument for the title of 'Best PG in the NBA' right now, and the player who showed up for us in the playoffs is a top 5 player in this league in my opinion.

The scary part is that he still has room for improvement.  He can work on that jumper, get to the line and hit his foul shots, and generally just become a more consistent scoring threat from game to game.  It's nice that he can impact a game without scoring, but I do think the team is better when he's being aggressive unless literally everybody else is on fire (which is very rare).  I think he could also stand to be more fundamentally sound defensively - he doesn't have to gamble as much as he does.    He's long and quick enough that he can get his share of steals without taking many risks.

It has been fun to watch Rondo grow in the last couple of years, and I hope he continues to make strides moving forward.

No.even rose and cps are barely max players.

If 3/4 best PGs in the league are not max players, who is?

I think Rondo is a max player, as Roy said, in the current market (where Hibbert is a max player). I'm not sure though in a different atmosphere.

Absolutely. Only player in the NBA, this includes Lebron, that is capable of getting you 20 pts 20 rebs 20 assists in a single game. He and maybe Dwight Howard are the only players in the NBA that can dominate a game without scoring in double figures. If you were to list the 100 most impressive games by an individual since 2006 Rondo will appear more than anyone with the exception of Lebron and maybe Dwight. Remember these stat lines:

18-17-20
29-18-13
44-10-8 (all 53 minutes)
10-10-24
10-10-20
32-10-15
25-11-11 (55 minutes 1 TO)

The majority of these games also came in the playoffs. Big game performer. He is usually the best player in the biggest games. People question his day to day consistency yet this year he had 10+ assists in 20+ straight games. My bias may be showing but when you take into account his great contract, I wouldn't trade him for anyone except Lebron and Durant.

I think he is worth the Max going forward glad he is on cheap deal now.  Giving him financial security before he was an absolute stud has paid off.

I would not mind giving AB a little financial security...
