The Big 3 era is officially over, it is now time to move on to the next phase of the Boston Celtics - The Rajon Rondo era. The club has to make this transistion loud and clear, I would suggest making Rondo team captain or co-captain, but we do not want to p--- off The Truth (lol). But really, sending out a loud and clear message that Rondo is the main attraction and draw for the Celtics will only help his game and the team overall.

The NBA is a player's and star league. The league office and the officials recognize this and the superstars are rewarded on the court with calls. If Rondo is declared and promoted as the Boston star he will almnost immediately start making the all-defense team his steals will go up because he will be giving the benefit of the doubt on steal vs. foul calls, and he will get to the line more. The effect of getting to the line more even if he does not score is to put the other team in the penalty for easier scores at the foul line for our better foul shooters. One of the problems we had with the Big 3 is that there was not one designated STAR on the celtics so the referees did not give any one celtic star treatment. It is time to correct this and designate RONDO the Star on the Celtics.

I'm not sure Danny will 'stop shopping' anyone, and I think that's the way it should be.

But the market for Rondo is defined now, and there is no doubt of that. A superstar, and maybe more.

But that said, I highly doubt Rondo goes anywhere this season. His contract is too good to be true, and his talent level and age dictate that maybe there are a handful of guys even to be considered at equal or greater value.

exactly, rondo kills it in the playoffs, while cp3 flops and whines in the playoffs.

Actually, I have some doubt. Rondo is a rare talent, but there's not another team that would be willing to send us their superstar in return.

Well, except possibly Dwight Howard for the next two days only?

rondo will never be team captain.he is not team captain material.at least not yet

Laughable.

Anyways, I agree that Rondo is gradually becoming an unstoppable force, however, winning over the refs is not how I want the Celtics to win.

I always loved the aftermath of Rondo trade talks...

Nothin' better than an angry little Rondo!

I don't think that Boston can get a superstar in return for him in all honesty.

I disagree, the market is defined by what Danny has demanded, not by what other teams are willing to give. Just because nobody has met Danny's price doesn't mean the cost of getting Rondo is going down.

If anyone had cause to react to potential trade-talk embarrassment last year, it was Rondo, not Ray.

But Rondo by all accounts simply strapped on his green sneakers and went about playing and leading the team as best he could.

It was Ray, "Mr. Professional", who was whining to the press all year, trying to undermine Doc's decision to start Bradley over him and generally harrumphing about about in dissatisfaction.

Yeah, I'm sure Rondo can be annoying, but over the last year at least, he gets maturity points over Ray.

all you rondo lovers just stop.first of all rondo is not untouchable.no one is.second rondo will never be team captain.he is not team captain material.at least not yet and he hasnt done anything to deserve it yet.

He's pretty dang close. KG is untouchable, because he has a no trade clause, PP is close just for the fact that he's been here for 15 years and should retire in green. Rondo is the best passing PG in the game right now. Nash is right behind him, but Rondo plays D.

So untouchable? No, very little players in the league are. But could you get some thing worth it in return? Most likely not. The only reason why you think it is if the team goes in a whole new direction. And right now why would you do that? Its going to be more of a running team, and who in the league passes better than Rondo in the open court. I have to rewind some of his passed because I couldn't believe my eye the first time how he got it to some one on the break.

I think last year after the tossing of the ball and bumping the Ref, Rondo made big strides in becoming a leader. Even threw out the season when he stood up to Ray and said that Bradley should start, thats leadership material right there. He also has bee practicing with the team most of the summer, getting to know the new guys, and then brought them to PP and KG to practice more. I could see them giving him the at least co-captain label this year and if things go well, next season be the new Captain.

The only thing he has to do is curve his intense behavior away from refs when things don't go well. He's not a knuckle head, just intense and looses him self at times.

So untouchable? No. But there would only be a small hand full of players I would trade for, or a couple young prospects packaged I would trade Rondo for, and even that would be unlikely. Guy played with one arm and Lebron sat out two weeks with a sprained pinky finger on his none shooting hand.

I actually don't follow this logic.  When you put a house on the market, is the market set by what the seller wants or what the buyer wants?  Danny can say he wants nothing less than Chris Paul for Rondo but that does not set the market unless there is a buyer who agrees.

That doesn't mean that just because the market doesn't value Rondo as much as the Celtics do, that Danny is wrong and the market is right, it just means that there is no market.  It also makes Rondo untradeable but not for the reasons most people reference.

Rondo just needs a reliable shot and then everyone can will say that he is a star, he is elite, it is his team, whatever superlative you want.  Until he gets that though, there will be debate on that and for good reason, and we will not get a Chris Paul calibar player in return for him, whether we want to or not.

Maybe this will be the year of the shot for Rondo.
