I'm now convinced that Sean Williams' basketball instincts are so poor that he'll never be a significant contributor on the Cs.  Hollins is the same type of guy, with worst rebounding.

Steamer could be a decent backup, but his incredibly non-competitive showing in the ECF has me wondering if it was because of his foot woes or because he's a wimp.  The guy was afraid to take an open jumper, despite being one of the better percentage shooter from mid-range.  I'm not going to lose any sleep over him signing elsewhere.

All three guys are end of the rotation types.  Steamer has some upside, but I don't know if he has the confidence to be a good offensive player.

I think Melo will be the backup Center.  He needs to work on his hands both in catching the ball and strength.  But I think he runs the floor and could easily replace Greg.     He is raw but I saw some nice things in the summer league game.  He has a good motor just bad hands.   Steams was not a good rebounder either.

There's still a little hope with Stiemer--Minny hasn't officially made an offer yet, and his agent said if the deals were close he'd take a little less to play in Boston.
That means the C's will wait too long...then say..well, we WANTED him......

I blame doc for that...steam was a good shooter at first....doc benched him often....kept him out of plays, no passes...killed his confidence..doc is good with that, for guys he doesn't favor......I bet he plays a lot better in Minn....better O also, but we'll see...Minn saw good in him, more than the C's....over pay..wel maybe...but look around...ANYONE who is 7' gets bucks if they play at all....

Sean Williams is a meathead. Anyone catch his three point attempt early in the shot clock early in the 3rd quarter? Seconds later he was riding pine.

That sequence defines Sean Williams as an NBA player. Absolutely clueless about what he can do, what he should do and what he does do.

Not that he's a genius, but it's more likely that he knew he was coming out so he threw up that shot than he got yanked for it. It's not like that play was aggregiously worse than many other plays that *didn't* get people yanked.

Maybe. I doubt it. In these Summer Games, and the announcers said it over and over again during yesterday's broadcasts, you have to do what you are good at doing.

If you are Sean Williams, get down low, block shots, grab rebounds, play good interior defense, run on the break, look for easy putbacks and down low offense.

Bouncing outside and taking three pointers early in the shot clock is by no means what you do if you are Sean Williams and, I'm sorry, but he needs to use his head if he is ever to play the NBA game.

The guy is undoubtedly on his last chance, and he's still pulling bonehead moves.

I don't know what the process is, but Doc really gets in a lot of guys heads on shooting.  It's like he hammers them over and over about only shooting the ball at the absolute right time and place, but then is bewildered when that makes them reluctant to shoot.

It sounded like it was just the opposite for Stiemsma. He was very reluctant at first, and Doc had him stand in front of the group and say "My name is Greg Stiemsma, and I'm a shooter" which actually made him relax more about it.

He actually had about the same pts/48 minutes in the playoffs as in the regular season, but obviously played less minutes.

I don't understand why we don't have any rights to Stiemsma? Or do we?

What are the wolves offering? Im just surprised that either a. He gets an offer we can't match or b. We don't match a reasonable offer

More often than not, Doc is getting on guys for *not* taking the shots that are open for them, as it tends to hurt the whole offense.

As to Stiemer, we have the right to match any contract offer but the trick is that it has to be fit within one of our exemptions.  We can't match a $3M offer because we'd have to use the MLE, which JET received.  If we use the $2M exemption, we've got even less of a chance of getting Courtney Lee, or re-signing Pietrus.  So, Stimer's likely gone; he hasn't earned THAT much money playing hoops, if Minny's offering him $3M and the best we can do is $2M, he's be dumb (Sean Williams-level dumb) to sign back here.
