the blood from this latest fallout is, once again, on Danny's hands. he shops his players around constantly, which is bad enough - then he talks about it on the radio.
Danny has not shown loyalty to his players and this is what happens when you treat your guys like property - especially guys who definitely have loyalty to the team.
for some reason, Danny has this man-crush on Jeff Green and treats him as if he were Bill Russell when the guy hasn't done anything to help the Celts win a title - zero, zilch, nothing - and DA gives him $10 mill per ??
Danny wouldn't know team chemistry if a bucket of it was dumped on his head.
Yep. No offense to Jeff Green. But what has he DONE to deserve 3 million more than Ray Allen? If KG gets 12 mill (which he deserves), then I can see Ray wanting 9 million. KG played hurt one year. Here was Ray playing hurt this past year. Both were classy/hard working guys. Jeff Green, a guy who played 23 games, deserves more than Ray? Based off what? Ray helps the team win a championship and get to another NBA finals. Ray deserves the benefit of the doubt more than Jeff Green. If you think Ray is not a 9 million dollar player....I agree with you. But when you're going to pay Jeff that kind of money...I can understand why he might feel slighted.
Erm, Ray Allen ain't getting 9 million from anyone. What has Jeff Green done? He's 25, 6 foot 9 and can run like a gazelle, shoot and play almost any position on the floor. In other words, Jeff has a bright future in front of him.
Ray is on the verge of retirement- you don't pay a regressing veteran 9 million to come off the bench and hit 2 or 3 three pointers per game and turn the ball over 2 or 3 times.
His game has deteriorated more than anyone on the Celtics in the past 5 years and although his shooting is still fantastic, you cannot justify paying him 9 million. 6 million is being extremely generous.
It's about ego and trust and Ray had both of his confused with him being traded to Memphis(and the rest). Ray's given us everything, let the man do what he wants. He wants more shine time and Miami can give it to him and he can win a championship whilst taking much less toll on his body physically by sitting in the corner and doing what he does best- burying deep three's.
I honestly would not be surprised if Ray has a better year than Jeff Green. Especially come playoff time, even though it hurts too say.
The more and more I review Jeff Green. He starts to remind me of a better version of Tim Thomas. (Better as in...more effort, though not as good a shooter)
Again..I hope Im wrong. I hope Green is amazing this year.
And lets be CLEAR......Would Kevin Garnett REALLY have deserved 12 million dollars before this year??? Absolutely not. He was still recovering from his knee injury and just last season he got back to his old self again. Why is it so unfair to think the bad ankles ruined Ray's season last year and that this year he would come back a better player?
Yes its 9 million bucks. But I could have seen an situation where Danny offered 2 yr/18 million.
I guess time will tell.
