But in the last 5 years?Pierce? Allen? KG? Rondo? Perk? House? Posey? TA? Shaq?

I think he can only be accused of blowing it with the MLE on Sheed and or JO. Im in the Jo camp myself and I must be forgetting someone but I can't think of anyone he overpaid in the last 5 years except for JO. I suspect the Green signing will be fine.

Of course 4 dollars to paddy obryant was too much

Edit: I have edited to make clearer that I'm looking for overpays in the last 5 years

I'd argue that the 4 yr/60 mil extension that Pierce got was too much (even though DA arguably got a good deal on that contract, because some other idiotic GM would have easily given him even more).  I think we'll start to see the reality of that over the next couple seasons as Pierce hits age 35 and 36.  But that's debatable on both sides and other than him, I think you have a very good point.

Did Danny sign Scalabrine?

pierce is a lifetime celtic, so you have to sign him long term

Show me someone who is overpaid and I will show you a professional player. Be it baseball, football or basketball. Hockey players are all under paid!

Brian Scalabrine and Mark Blount are the two that jump to mind.

Overpaid Bass this summer too.

All GMs overpay guys from time to time. Part of the job.

We are in agreement. Sometimes you have to pay above market value. If Green is part of some wider Celtics plan, then it appears that the strategy of overpaying to keep Green has been achieved.

Scal, Blount, and JO.

He traded for a bunch of bad contracts over the years - Wally, Theo, Raef, and Davis come to mind. He hasn't had many FA signings that weren't one year deals, so it's hard to mess those up.

I think Bass deal is OK, after looking at how he graded defensively this year, and considering KG at C being so good, I think Bass was a good move.

Mark Blount's contract was Danny, 6 years at $41 million.  Close, but only $41 million too much.

He's done a generally nice job overall, but not overpaying guys is kind of easy when those decisions are mostly made for you.  For this current run, it's been KG, Paul, and Ray near the max and fill in veteran depth with exceptions and minimums.  Hard to overpay with no cap room.

Rondo was a sweet deal.  Perkins, Baby, Tony, and Ray left.  KG and Pierce might turn out to be slight overpays. Green and Bass seem like overpays to me.  The mid-level guys have underwhelmed so far.  We all like Scal, but his contract was an overpay.  I struggle to think of underpays aside from Rondo, actually.
