Getting JG back in a white and green uniform will be one of the highlights for me for the 2012/13
NBA season. I hope he does so well everyone'll forget there ever was someone named Kendrick Perkins suiting up in Boston. You go, JG. I'm with you.

He is going to be terrific.  He didn't have a shot to really find a role here the first year... just played the last 25 or so games of the season while Rondo was heartbroken about losing Perk.  Jeff had no training camp, very little practice, and was coming off the bench.  I'll be interested to see him this year.  Hopefully he starts at SF (with Pierce at SG).

Also excited to see Sullinger and Bradley, but moreso to see how Jeff does in his natural position.  Should be a really entertaining season.  Can't wait.

I also agree that PP can still play SG if needed just like KG can play 4/5.. For the amount of min available plus starting PP at SG means he is stil fresh and can keep up with the best of em defensively, offensively PP will punish SG guarding him easily.. If rivers employ some kind of a 7-7-7 minute distribution just like the way KG was managed then Pierce can be utilized as SG and SF at the same time while Avery is mending.

Or I actually se a scenario that at some point Jeff Gren takes over PP just like Avery did with Judas...PP coming of the bench does actually give us a tremendous boost offensively since no SF in the league will be able to guard him in the 2nd unit.. ofcourse depends  when Jef Gren has made a leap so bog that doc's hand is forced to start him.

OKC has the best record in the entire league from the minute Green was shipped out of town till today.  That gives me cause to doubt the guy.

His wimpy play here two seasons ago didn't help me build confidence in him.  His having heart surgery didn't either.  I saw how he looked last summer pre-diagnosis, and thought he would be a lot better his next season in Boston than his first partial season, and I still feel that way today.

His contract is an overpay by about $2m a year, but that's what happens when young players hit the open market. I'm hoping that this brush with both mortality and basketball mortality will make Green a different player - more determined and tough minded.

He's got a lot of talent and is a complete player.  Unfortunately, the things he doesn't do well,  rebound and have a paint presence, is what the team needs.  Hopefully, Sully and Melo can provide that.

Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sullinger and Melo is a fine group of young players. Bravo to Ainge for getting them and let's hope Doc can get the most out of them this season.

To imply that OKC got addition by subtraction in moving Green is crazy. What they did get was a more natural lineup. Instead of having green playing out of position at PF they started Ibaka at PF and Perk at C. With 3 young offensive studs Durant, Westbrook, and Green there team became a poor fit for Jeff.

I'm going to give him the chance he deserves to really show what he can do. "THE TRADE" was pretty aweful deal for two young guys to switch teams .  Perk only had to play defense, all he did anyway.   Green had alot more to learn than Perk.

Jeff seems very softspoken and not pushy, and I think had a bit of harf time finding getting adjusted to the Celtics. Plus he was not asked to come here, maybe it was somewhere he NEVER ever wanted to play. SO what I'm saying , is he was timid , soft , not self assured , maybe had his feelings hurt from being traded from his buddies his own age group .

I think now with the younger overall look of the Celtics , and his getting used to the Club, players, and general settling in , I believe he is gonna be a different player.

Also , I think he was held back someehat or deferred by personality to Durrant, and their stars. Rather TWO many cooks in the kitchen on OKC.

This newer look, with AB , Bass, with Rondo probally is much more to his liking.

As Larbrd33 mentioned, Green was playing PF for OKC.  Completely out of position.  Look at those clips.  That is not a PF.  Sullinger is a PF.  Wilcox is a PF.

He is a prototypical NBA SF who is tall enough and long enough to get put up against PFs, so they shoved him there.

With us he will almost exclusively be playing the wing SF, where he can use his length to bother guys on defense, and use his athleticism to get out on the break with Rondo.

Again, See the guy play in OKC before coming to C's.  Even out of position he was a stud.

ANNNNND...He sat on the bench WITH the celtics as an UNRESTRICTED FREE agent!  That's the type of committment and player I want on this team!

Kelly Dwyer expresses the national sportswriter gaggle's bewilderment:

Someone should tell Dwyer, it's really not that confusing. It's quite clear and easily understood what has happened.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Everyone loved how Wilcox would run the floor with Rondo last year, Jeff will do the same thing but hopefully stretch the floor too. This was a fun game to watch....

James Harden's disapointing and embarrassing NBA Finals makes me happy Danny Ainge traded her Green and not Harden

I'm not, I don't think that was necessarily on the table though.

I think Ainge asked for Harden first and OKC countered with Green

I'm excited for the upcoming season, and for Green's return in particular. Maybe he doesn't excel in any one thing, but he's good at a bunch of stuff. I expect him to be more aggressive and assertive, since he'll now have a full training camp, regular practice time, and quite a bit of separation from all the hoopla that occurred at the time of "the trade."

This guy can run, he can jump, he's super-athletic, he's a good finisher, he has a good post game, and he's gonna leave a lot of 3s and 4s in the dust in transition.
