I know these were charity games w/ not a lot of defense but still I remember during the lockout over twitter some guys talking about how great Jeff looked. If he can give us some of this much needed athleticism for our club, actually pick up the system, finish with Rondo on the break next season then look out he's our wild card.

I completely agree! I can understand the head scratchers over his deal, but if he can do what he was doing for OKC he's worst every dollar in my book

if we sign courtney lee and sullinger is consistant I think we'll literally have the best bench we've had since 08... very complete team

Is it just me or did green look a little thicker / more muscular in those clips than he did during his partial season with the C's in 10/11?  It seems like the previous year he was more slender.  I don't think it is a bad thing, or maybe I just haven't seen him play as much.

I am excited to see him out there for the C's with a full training camp, blending with Doc and our guys.

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
He is just about worth his contract for his athleticism alone. It's not that he is the most athletic, we just can use any we can get.

OKC has the best record in the entire league from the minute Green was shipped out of town till today.  That gives me cause to doubt the guy.

His wimpy play here two seasons ago didn't help me build confidence in him.  His having heart surgery didn't either.  I saw how he looked last summer pre-diagnosis, and thought he would be a lot better his next season in Boston than his first partial season, and I still feel that way today.

His contract is an overpay by about $2m a year, but that's what happens when young players hit the open market. I'm hoping that this brush with both mortality and basketball mortality will make Green a different player - more determined and tough minded.

He's got a lot of talent and is a complete player.  Unfortunately, the things he doesn't do well,  rebound and have a paint presence, is what the team needs.  Hopefully, Sully and Melo can provide that.

Rondo, Bradley, Green, Sullinger and Melo is a fine group of young players. Bravo to Ainge for getting them and let's hope Doc can get the most out of them this season.

OKC improved as a result of the trade because that's what a trade is supposed to do - improve your team (short- or long-term).  OKC already had enough athletes and scoring with Durant, Westbrook, Harden, etc.  The trade allowed them to improve defensively by bolstering their frontcourt, sliding Ibaka into the PF spot and starting Perkins instead of Kristic.  I don't think you should doubt Jeff Green just because OKC improved following his departure.

As for the rest of it... we'll see.  Green said he'll be more aggressive this season, and I'm sure he will. Just give him a chance and then go from there.

ya, I remember last off-season Green said that he wanted to be more agressive and was working hard on his "all around game"

I actually think hes goign to impress alot of people this year and come back better..

OKC's improvement post trade had more to do with them getting a more traditional front court and less to do with the removal of Jeff. Before the trade, they were playing Jeff (whose a 3) at the 4 and Serge (a 4) at the 5 - and keep in mind, Serge was a lot more raw then than he is now. That's a an individually talented front court with Durant, but it doesn't really fit. Its kind of like we're seeing with NYK - their frontcourt is super talented, but those guys just don't compliment each other.

To me, Jeff is a 3. But when you have Durant on your roster, he's clearly going to get most of the minutes at the SF. That led to OKC forcing Jeff into the 4, which I think hurt his development somewhat.

Whoever is talking like this guy isn't a [dang] good player, just doesn't know what they're talking about. It's really as simple as that.

I was a little shocked. That guy has never played for the Celtics. We had Clark Kent. That was Superman dunking the Ball one was fairly close to the free throw line, and he dunked it left handed. Hard.

The heart scare may have turned his life around. It's amazing when faced with death and to overcome it we finally realize that there is nothing to be scared of after all.

Congrats Jeff, may the force be with you.

He is going to be terrific.  He didn't have a shot to really find a role here the first year... just played the last 25 or so games of the season while Rondo was heartbroken about losing Perk.  Jeff had no training camp, very little practice, and was coming off the bench.  I'll be interested to see him this year.  Hopefully he starts at SF (with Pierce at SG).

Also excited to see Sullinger and Bradley, but moreso to see how Jeff does in his natural position.  Should be a really entertaining season.  Can't wait.
