that play far more than the reserves, so I really dont know what the gripe is from NBA players that come off the bench but know they are going to play every single game sometimes more minutes than a starter plays. As long as a player on the NBA team has a defined role on the team I dont think it should matter if he is 1-5 or 6-12. The key to determining your worth to the team is your role and minutes play. Just because your number is called 6-10 in line should not matter.

Take baseball for example should a player cry because he is batting ninth in the order? The NBA player should just consider his position on the team as his 'at bat' number. They all play for the team.

I strongly believe that NBA is suffering by trying to adapt its terminology to that of soccer (probably the oldest team sport). Once coaches get out of this 'starter' mentality you can get some innovation and actually have better players coming off the bench if it gives your team a decided advantage.

I didn't know NBA was trying to be like soccer. What makes you say that? If you're talking about RA, I think it was more of the player's ego thing than a coach's perspective thing.

But yea, as a starter in soccer, you run that field the whole 90 min, until you're taken out for a bench player, and then you can't come back in again. So obviously different.

what I am saying is that the NBA bench player should not be considered any less than starters unless he is not getting in the game at all or not playing significant minutes.
