The one thing they do need in Houston is PGs.  S and T Dools at $2.5m, with JJJ and non-guaranteed Williams deal, along with a first, and you can pay Lee a bit under $6m, which is what teams with the MLE can give him.

The Dools deal will have to be for three years, so the Cs will probably have to send $3m the Rockets way too.

Even better, Williams and Moore are both non-guaranteed, and the Dooling deal could be non-guaranteed in the last two seasons.  Send $3 million along, and Houston is making a $500k profit and would be getting Dooling for free.

Under that scenario, we could sign Lee for $5.35 million in the first year, and could give up to a 5 year, $31 million deal total.
I assume we might need to throw in a first, but I'm on board.

New York just gave up two #2s for Camby, which seems more than reasonable.  Send them one of ours, and the NJ pick.  Hold onto the Charlotte one and our #1s.

I am convinced rivers seals the deal with lee. I think he would be a great spot starter and a lethal you off the bench

I don't know, $5M or $6M seems awfully steep for 11 pts off the bench especially if we have to give up even modestly valuable assets to boot.  I am not sure I believe that is what he can get from our competition.

I like Lee well enough but I think we need to be careful not to overpay as an over reaction to losing Ray.

on the flipside we are playing to win NOW and wont have KG for long any extra help could be the difference in coming out of the east or going all the way

Yeah, not worth that type of money as a bench player. As a 35 minute a night starter, I think it's fair enough but it's definitely overpaying for a 15-20 minute a night backup.

I wonder if Danny couldn't find a better use for those funds. Preferably for a legitimate backup center. Go with a less expensive option for backup SG.

Yes, and we likely won't have AB for half the year. We need more help at the SG in the short term.

EDIT: That said, I think the bigger need is at C.

The contract isn't my concern since the money has to be spent anyway and there's nobody to spend it on.

What I wouldn't want is to lose too many assets...like a first we might regret or Jajuan who might pan out. Two second round picks sounds good though.

What if the S&T involves JJJ, Moore, and Sean Williams, with two 2nds?

Lee's new contract would begin at, what, up to $3.3 million? As much as $4 million? Is it likely that someone else with the MLE would trump that?

Miami has a bench guy at $5.8m and $4m, and two at $3m who should be making double, but gave the ring chaser discount.  The Cs are in a position to outspend other teams off the bench, because they have two top players in Rondo and KG making relatively little money $23m combined.  Boston's Big three make only $40m, -11m less than Miami.

Boston can afford to spend heavily on their bench, and they need to out-depth Miami to beat them.  If KG starts at center and Bass at PF, a bench of JT, Lee, Green, Sully and Melo or Krstic would be as strong as any in the league.

Courtney Lee is a must get for the Cs right now.  That Morey was willing to hook up Camby for relatively little is a good sign.  Lee has more value.  I'd send JJJ, Moore, Dooling at $2.5m a year, Sean Williams' non guaranteed contract and the Charlotte and Nets seconds for Lee, and give him a three year deal starting at $5m a year.  If I had to, I'd even sub a #1 for one of the 2s.

If there are eight teams interested in him, it's probable that somebody will offer the MLE.

Wouldn't Courtney Lee have to agree with the S&T before getting moved?

Maybe Doc and Ainge can sell him on the intangibles, playing time, etc., in a way that makes the difference in salaries less important.
