As Ray's departure has left us with some money to spend under the apron, but only a few ways to spend it, I was wondering if our rights to Dooling could open up some intriguing new sign and trade possibilities (since we can't sign and trade Krstic and nobody else was making much).

As he made $2.25 mil last season, we can bump him 20% to $2.7 (with two more non-guaranteed years, a la Von Wafer in the Bass trade) and then add on the non-guaranteed $1.7 mil of Moore and Williams to make $4.4 mil.  Assuming we'd be over the tax threshold, that package could bring back another player or free agent with a starting salary under $5.5 mil.  To incentivize the transaction we could throw in one of our picks (our 2013 first rounder or the Charlotte pick or one of our other 2nd rounders, depending on the returning asset).

Possible targets would be Marcus Camby, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, CJ Watson, Daniel Gibson, Gerald Green, Vince Carter, Dorell Wright, Brandon Rush, Lou Williams, Courtney Lee, Barbosa, Darrell Arthur, Kwame... and others I'm sure I haven't mentioned.

2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

This is a good point about Dooling. I believe you are right that he could be used in a S&T. Of course it would be easiest if the other player involved wasn't also a S&T type player. The question is, other than the FAs you list above (none few of whom inspire me to part with a draft pick), what players currently under contract in the 2.5 - 5.5M range are of interest?

Dooling will likely sign as the third-string PG for the vet min. He has little other value, regardless.

It's give and take. You have to think "Does the other team want this package?" and the answer is doubtful. If a team does want that package there is no doubt we will be taking back a bad contract or a player who is having issues woth coaching or management.

A team that is under the cap, so not subject to luxury tax, who could then cut him as soon as the trade goes through. Boston would send $3M in cash for the other team to "pay" Dooling's contract, plus a super protected 2nd rounder for the other team's troubles.

The Cs did this with Von Wafer last year. It happens.

who would want keyon dooling? if danny was able to pull off a sign and trade with keyon dooling and get a semi decent player in return, he's not just a genius - he's a genius to the degree that words would not be able to express... like danny should be up for a nobel peace prize or something.

Re-signed Dooling, Sean Williams and Marquis Daniels, 2013 2nd round picks from Cavs and Charlotte and cash to Memphis to re-signed OJ Mayo.
We get a young SG who's taller then 6-2 for great guard rotation (Rondo, Bradley, Terry, Mayo)
Memphis gets something for Mayo (2 picks in 30-38 range), and gets cash to buyout incoming players...
