Unless we are awarded with a trade exception for losing Ray Allen this could be a challenge.
That's not how the CBA works in the NBA.

Twitter blowing up with reports of Pacers' offer to OJ Mayo -> 2 years, 16.5 million being reported.

[dang], if only that trade had been consummated last season..

Wow, that's a lot of money for Mayo considering what some other guys are signing for the last few days.

2 years at 8.5 mill isn't the worst in the world. Not like it's a super long deal if things don't work. Definitely overpaying for what Mayo is but he could have a couple of strong seasons.

Take it for what it's worth (as this appears to be coming from A. Sherrod Blakely)

http://www.nesn.com/2012/07/report-celtics-still-interested-in-acquiring-oj-mayo.html

Quote
"The Celtics still have interest in O.J. Mayo, and right now they are not [in] the position to give O.J. the kind of money he's looking for," CSNNE's A. Sherrod Blakely said. "But certainly with sign-and-trade possibilities, then all of a sudden O.J. becomes a player the Celtics might make a run at."
sheesh Sherrod is bad
yep!

Celtics can offer a starting salary for Mayo at 8.2 million if we offer a package of Moore,Williams, jjj, dooling s&t to Memphis and a 3rd team (pistons, cavs,Kings) . And s&t deals are 3 years not two like pacers offering.

I just don't see them helping us with that package offered.

It's more like we're helping them.  Memphis aren't even in the same conference,Mayo to Pacers for nothing, while Boston gives them Moore,Williams that can be waived and we offer them one or two 2nds.

Pistons get JJJ for nothing and Dooling plus 3 million cash for one year. Dumars owes us since that Sheed trade, Kings would take on JJJ and Dooling, so would the Cavs, not a division rival.

Why would we want Mayo when we just signed Terry?

I agree, Lee is the much better fit.  Besides height Mayo is similar to Terry but worse.

I'd like Lee myself, but if that doesn't pan out, Mayo gives us a bit more size in the PG/SG position. We don't have any at the moment. He's talented, though still needs a bit to go, but can be very useful to us.

Terry shouldn't affect the "need" for Mayo, you could argue that because of Terry we need someone like him.

OJ Mayo doesn't use his size though, he doesn't provide a bigger SG option for defense/rebounding. He has all the same issues Terry/Bradley have, and his offensive game is similar to Terry's but worse.

Plus given his contract requirements? Yuck.

If Hornets match PHX offer sheet to Eric Gordon, as they've vowed, desert sources say this is definite: OJ Mayo will be courted hard by Suns.

Seems like a good fit for both.  Suns desperate for a 2-guard & i think Mayo would have a good chance at spreading his wings in PHX.  Talk about potential chemistry issues tho if you have both Beas and Mayo.
