Ray made the decision to go to Miami for less money and presumably a better chance to win more titles. Some of the jokers on CSNNE (tanguay) think he should be commended for this.

Honestly, Ray is a hall of famer, but he is not at the level of players that are defined by the number of rings he wins.  That is reserved for the likes of Bird, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, and yes even Lebron.  Wade is probably not even in that category, which is funny because he will always have one more than Lebron.  If ray wins a few more rings in Miami, it would be like Kerr or Horry getting multiple rings at this point.

Ray must know this, which is why I feel this decision is totally was an F you to all of Celtic nation and worst of all to his legacy.   And why, because he had a rocky relationship with Rondo or was in trade rumors.  Who on our team can't claim both of those other than KG?  Even Pierce has been put through the same stuff.

He's not chasing rings, and if he is, he completely missed the mark big time.  Being able to retire a Celtic and see his number in the rafters for eternity is a legacy.  Potentially helping us get #18 would have been legacy.

I'll cheer ray when he comes back next season, but 10, 15, 20 years from now.  I'll look up in the rafters and see #5, #9, and #34 hanging there.  #20 will probably be on the court worn by some player who hasn't even picked up a basketball yet.  I think one day Ray is going to get past what ever anger he has towards the Celts and realize he made a big mistake by not cementing himself as a Celtic legend.

I thank Ray for what he did for his years here, but am, like most on here, sickened by what he did - petulant to a far lesser degree than Howard, to be certain, but petulant indeed.  In my opinion, we should shore up the 2nd guard unit with someone like Mayo.  Sorry O.J., #32 is retired here, but hopefully you will enjoy #20, which we can offer without hesitation since it is clear it won't be raised with #34 and #5.

I am surprised that I have not read many on here thinking that this could provide a ridiculous motivation for Rondo, KG, and Paul.  I know Rondo was apparently the "issue," but isn't Ray saying he thinks we are done and he has a better chance to win there?  Whether true or not (and it probably is), doesn't this seem just like something KG would latch onto?  Rondo too?

Maybe they should have Sean Williams wear #20 in the summer league.

I would not be surprised that this will be extra motivation for PP, KG and especially Rondo for when they play the heat.  It wouldn't be a shock to see Rondo ask Doc to guard Judas Shuttlesworth when he is in and completely lock him down.

Terry should change his number from 31 to 20!

I think that Doc would rotate his defenses, with whoever needs a rest standing fairly close to Ray as he bides his time on the perimeter waiting for the occasional pass.

Probably not a bad idea.  We all know "coach" Spo isn't savvy enough to design a play for Ray so he will likely just stand there waiting/hoping to get a pass.

I dont think anybody should waste their time about wondering how to defend ray. When it comes down to a coaching battle between spoelstra and doc i think we all know how that is gonna turn out  ;D

He ought to call Sherman Douglas and Bailey Howell and apologize for disgracing the number 20 like he has just recently done.
