Ray made the decision to go to Miami for less money and presumably a better chance to win more titles. Some of the jokers on CSNNE (tanguay) think he should be commended for this.
Honestly, Ray is a hall of famer, but he is not at the level of players that are defined by the number of rings he wins. That is reserved for the likes of Bird, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, and yes even Lebron. Wade is probably not even in that category, which is funny because he will always have one more than Lebron. If ray wins a few more rings in Miami, it would be like Kerr or Horry getting multiple rings at this point.
Ray must know this, which is why I feel this decision is totally was an F you to all of Celtic nation and worst of all to his legacy. And why, because he had a rocky relationship with Rondo or was in trade rumors. Who on our team can't claim both of those other than KG? Even Pierce has been put through the same stuff.
He's not chasing rings, and if he is, he completely missed the mark big time. Being able to retire a Celtic and see his number in the rafters for eternity is a legacy. Potentially helping us get #18 would have been legacy.
I'll cheer ray when he comes back next season, but 10, 15, 20 years from now. I'll look up in the rafters and see #5, #9, and #34 hanging there. #20 will probably be on the court worn by some player who hasn't even picked up a basketball yet. I think one day Ray is going to get past what ever anger he has towards the Celts and realize he made a big mistake by not cementing himself as a Celtic legend.
