I'm looking for somebody that has watched a lot of Orangeman Basketball in he quick enough and athletic enough to guard two guards in the NBA.

It would be nice though, he's 6'7" with a 7 foot wingspan, it would give us the size we need.

Yeah, I watched every Syracuse game with Joseph during my four years at Syracuse.

He's capable of guarding 2's.  I wouldn't say that's his strong suit, and he could struggle against smaller, quicker 2's, but he's certainly capable.  He isn't lacking in athleticism.

I think he has the versatility to guard longer 2's, all 3's, and small 4's at the next level.  He's going to have to adjust from the 2-3 zone at Syracuse, but I think he can develop into a nice team and perimeter defender in the NBA.

I watched a lot of Big East basketball, my thoughts on Joseph.

The 2-3 zone that Syracuse runs (this goes with Melo also) is going to take some transitioning to get used to. Hopefully Summer League can get the cobwebs out of his legs when it comes to guarding quicker, more athletic players than he was used to at Syracuse.

I think he has the strength to defend 2's but his quickness leaves more to be desired. Can he do it though? Yes, I think he could play the 2. Will we go into the season with Joseph as our 4th guard? Probably not.

I'd compare his quickness (on defense) to Caron Butler

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
I'm not saying there's no chance, but we probably shouldn't be relying on 51 picks to contribute in their rookie season.
