Wow.

That about sums it up...

It must've involved a pick, no?  If that's the case, then i'm not sure it would've been a no-brainer, especially since Webster was coming off a career year.

Williams+Webster for AI? You still gotta make that trade if you're Minny.

I'm still trying to figure out why Kahn would pass on this.

If it was to preserve cap space for the 2011-12 season, here's what he spent it on:

J.J. Barea (4 years, $19 million)
Chase Budinger (acquired for 2012 1st rounder)

That's it. Those were the only two moves that Kahn made that drew down the Wolves' available cap space (he made other moves that didn't impact their cap space as well). And technically, I think he could have made the Budinger deal anyways, since it was a minimum-level contract.

So, assuming the Wolves can't S&T for Batum, Kahn's going to buy out Webster (and Miller) and amnesty Darko to make enough room to offer Batum a seriously overpriced contract. Meaning, for Kahn:

Barea + Batum + Budinger > Iguodala and 2012 1st rounder

Am I missing something here, or looking at it the wrong way?

They must have been asking for picks or something else.

Another factor might have been until he saw the impact Rubio had immediately on his team he was unwilling to go for "win now" or tie up his cap long term.

Because he's David Kahn.

I would like to think that the NBA's GMs will break the mold of matching offers like these that aren't worth it. Right now it looks like the Blazers about to spend a ton of money on keeping Batum and signing Hibbert. They're good but they won't get them very far.

Can't we just bring Gerald Green back?

I'd hardly doubt that it'd be for the pick too. Both because it'd be apart of the report (and again, would've been something that came up when second writer confirmed), but also because that was at a point that the 6ers seemed to be looking to just get rid of him.

Maybe Kahn passing up Iggy was what got Kevin love to mention publicly that he wanted to play with quality teammates.

Yeah, looking like they'll have plenty of room to outbid the C's.

Hoping that Kahn tries to work out a trade involving another wing player instead. Iguodala?

That's what we better hope or we can say goodbye to C. Lee

I'd trade Webster and Williams for Iggy. Kahn is a bad GM. 45 million for Iggy is bad but 50 for Batum and 2 picks is good?

I think Kahn would be proven to be even more of an idiot then, I'm convinced that Williams can be a all star on a team that needs him.

But that's hardly the case when Love is playing the 4. Kahn is in a weird position. Up Williams trade value at the expense of loves minutes or allow Williams to try somehow to be sixth man of the year in 2014.
