This is what I see Stern concocting for ratings:

(If Dwight goes to LA)

Lakers vs. Clippers and Boston vs. Miami

and for the season opener, Boston vs. Miami for the ring celebration..

Yeeeaaaa!!!

Yeah, the NBA made LeBron attend the C's banner night, probably do the same again.  Just vice versa.

I just thought about this and wanted to bring this up. This could be huge ratings for the NbA's first game and there are too many story lines for Stern not to do this.

It will probably be the Thunder against the Heat.

If Boston at Miami isn't a Christmas Day game, David Stern doesn't know a [dang] thing about marketing.  Followed by OKC at the Lakers.

Do the Heat award Ray Allen a ring?  After all, he did shoot 37% against them, and allowed Wade to dog him at the other end a good amount of the time.

I really hope that is not what happens when the schedules come out, but I just have this feeling Stern is going to do this, knowing the whole Game 7 ECF and Ray leaving us for MIA would generate A LOT of ratings. But it would be a slap in the face. I'm pretty sure the Cavs fans felt the same way when they had to watch our rings being handed to us knowing we beat them out of the semi-finals..
Yeeeaaaa!!!

I'm praying we don't open the season in Miami. Watching them get their rings and raise their banner would be sickening. Although I'm pretty sure KG would interrupt it and set the banner on fire.

For Christmas I wouldn't be surprised to see:

Boston-Heat
OKC-LAL (especially if they get Dwight)

Also, I definitely see a subway series rivalry developing at some point this season between NY and Brooklyn?  Same divisions, same city, both rosters full of stars.  There is a tremendous amount of stars/talent in the Atlantic Division btw.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Probably see something like
OKC vs Lakers
Brooklyn vs New York
Miami vs Boston

Combination of the ECF thriller series and Ray's move probably cemented our opponent  8)

God it's gonne be fun to be an NBA fan for the next 5 years.
Too bad we'll probably miss out on any jewelry  in that time period, at least the playoffs will be fun to watch.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'm looking forward to those games as there is defiantly a chance for some bad blood to start.

I think:

Boston @ Knicks

Miami @ OKC

Lakers - anybody (Clippers make sense) in Staples Center
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

This makes a lot of sense. I actually see this happening more than my earlier prediction, especially with the subway series...

Stern is beside himself right now thinking of the combinations he has this summer for the schedules on those special days & the tv stations fighting over who can offer more $$ for a game! More $$ for him & the league!!
Yeeeaaaa!!!
