Well, I take some solace in the fact that AB is going to absolutely eat Ray alive.  On ball or off ball, doesn't matter.  Maybe then he'll come to terms with why he lost his starting job.

Still can't hate the guy though.

This was always the risk when Danny shopped him so hard at the deadline over the years.  As Ray said as he entered free agency:

Quote
"I wouldn’t be surprised, but I don’t want to go into this season, like I have in past seasons, worrying about whether I was going to be traded or not. At this point we want to ride it out, take this thing to the house, and not have the instability of knowing whether today or tomorrow something is going to happen."

"For all of us, you deal with that over the course of your career, but wherever I end up after this summer, that has to be the No. 1 mandate. At this time I owe it to my family to be ultimately selfish, because I’ve been a very unselfish team player, and I’ll always do that. But when it comes to myself and my family, I have to make sure that I don’t rock their worlds or put them off kilter in any fashion.".

Sounds like he wanted some stability.

I don't either. He was always gone after Ainge tried to trade him to Memphis.

The deterioration of Ray Allen's relationship with Rajon Rondo played a significant factor in his leaving for Miami, several sources tell Y!

Goodbye Ray...thanks so much for 2008...

Your jersey will not be hung in the rafters.

In my opinion he didn't deserve to be in the rafters anyways.

No retiring of his number. 5 years of service and 1 ring isn't enough.

I thoroughly appreciate what he did for the Celtics. The Celtics Bulls series in 2009 comes to mind right away.

3 year 9 million deal. He took half the money to go to the enemy, I hope he suffers every minute he puts on a heat jersey.

So, $9 million = 1/2 of $12 million. Good to know.

3 million a year is half of 6 million a year, check your math

3 is more than 2. My math is just fine.

and 6 is twice 3, fact is fact

It's a fact that ignores the other fact that Ray wouldn't be guaranteed a contract after 2 years if his play declines. The third year matters.

Stability?  Danny gave him the no-trade clause he wanted.

This was hurt feelings.  Hurt feelings equal spite.

Hope those ankles hold up Ray....NOT!

Well there you go.  I figured this was overblown.

I'm sure he's going to love playing with that great humanitarian and humble human being Lebron James.

Sounds like he wanted some stability.

Didn't we offer him a no trade?  He isn't getting that in Miami.

A legacy sounds like stability.  He will never be accepted in Boston again and the Heat have a great team but awful fans.  He's a role player there.
