How about Terrence Williams?

Seems he could be had for cheap and has amazing athleticism, something I think the Celtics could use.  Sure he has his flaws, but his upside is tremendous and it would be nice to have another pair of young legs running with Rondo and Bradley.  He can also play some point guard if need be.

He played pretty well for Sacramento at the end of the season and his shooting appears to have improved quite a bit.

Was a big T-Will fan and I really hope he can turn it around, but I have no interest in adding him to this team at this point in time. Too much of an uncertainty, no need for it.

Regarding Pietrus though, I think Terrence has a lot more potential as this point in their respective careers.  Even this past season, despite floundering in Houston for first half of the season, he was able to show up in Sacramento and perform better than Pietrus statistically.

In 18 games his per 36 avgs:
15.5 pts, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists on 46.1% shooting

Pietrus was in 42 games:
11.3 pts, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists on 38.5% shooting

I do realize Pietrus was coming of injury, and is a better 3 point shooter.

Terrence is an excellent rebounder for his position, which is certainly something the Celtics could use.

Where we are currently, we need guys that we can absolutely bank on being able to contribute. Despite his struggles in the playoffs, he was still a guy you could rely on to provide you minutes. Terrence Williams, for his incredible skillset and potential, is not a guy that you can bank on.

As far as him showing up for the Kings, yes, he showed up for them - when things had gone so poorly for him that he had to accept a 10 day contract 3 years removed from being a lottery pick.

Even though Pietrus struggled in the playoffs for us, I'd still rather have him. With signing KG for 3 more years, we are making another run now. I'd rather have a proven playoff performer than a guy with upside who struggles keeping a job in the regular season.

I'm glad somebody has had this thought besides me. I'm a huge Williams fan and have wanted to see him in green for quite some time. I think it's worth taking a flyer on him similar to how people feel about randolph.

TWilliams is a freak athletically who can play either the two or the three and has a nice size to do so (6'6 220) who has showed a lot of dissapointment and a lot of promise. Last year in SacTown was obviously his beat season. He showed great strides on the offensive end and the defensive end and can handle the ball nicely and make plays from the 2 or 3.

If he can come on the cheap I would be very happy to add somebody with his promise and potential. His athleticism would be great for the celtics and if he pans out you have a very good player and if he doesn't, big deal we didn't spend much to get him. Typical low risk/high reward move.

I can't refute those points, he definitely needs to prove himself.  With Ray leaving and the financial situation being what it is, Terrence might not be a bad option at this point regardless.  Guys like Courtney Lee are going to be too expensive.  I suppose it depends on what Pietrus wants to do.
