No way I'd pay that for Green either, I'd call their bluff , let him cruze , if he believes he can get it .

That kind of money we should be making a play at Kaman, Hibbert, Josh Smith , no way .
I say let ALlen and Green go their way and get Josh Smith.
We can't, we won't have the cap space to do so.

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
It will be interesting to see if Pierce is okay coming off the bench if he is still around if/when he declines down the road.

Indy has to match on Hibbert.  They can't let a 25 year old all star center walk and get nothing in return.  Hibbert didn't do the Pacers any favor agreeing to a deal with the Blazers.  They have nothing to S and T to the Pacers.  Indy might have to settle for a giant trade exception.

Green cant be our starting forward. He doesnt have the displacing body that PFs are supposed to have. He will be pushed all over the place. Green is 100% a SF. How good is he? I havent seen him play yet so I cant say. Bass will be our starting forward cause at least he has more muscle for the position than Green. We have to develop Sullinger as quickly as possible. We must have drafted his as a PF, but we will give him his chance probably 3 years from know, knowing Doc.
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

That's the sort of thinking that had the Hawks tied up in salary cap hell for a few years with Joe Johnson.  It might be the lesser of two evils, but sometimes letting a good player walk is better than paying him way too much on a long-term deal.

Either match it or find out a way to work out a sign and trade.

Indy , lets Hibbert go , WHICH I hope , they are screwed.

Indy becomes a bad version of the old Hawks team with out Hibbert..... HIbbert is gonna be even better in a few years.

Letting Hibbert go ,  they might as well run up the flag, young and mobile  talented 7 foot centers are rare.

They let him go . ticket sale fail, team goes to crap ....you watch.  ;)

Bird and Hibbert leave its curtains for Pacers.... hello Bobcats

They already have horrible ticket sales.  They were 22nd in attendence last season, the worst playoff team.  The season before, they had the worst attendance in the entire league despite making the playoffs.  If the NBA was going contract a team, I might say that the Pacers should be #1 on the list because they have shown that they can't draw while winning.

The Hawks were jammed up because of the JJ and Williams contracts.  The only way the Pacers get anything done in the Eastern Conference is by having dominant paint players to counteract Miami's wing advantage.  They must retain Hibbert.

Massively overpaying a good big man isn't really that much different from massively overpaying a good wing when it comes to putting a team in a bad cap situation.

Looks like they're banking on Kaman for signing a lot cheaper.

It's a tough call if you're Indiana, Hibbert could pan out to be a top 5 center in the league, or he may not. At least Kaman is consistent and know what you're going to get out of him every night.

Hibbert will never be a top 5 center. He is too limited physically.

Name 5 centers better than him...
*CB Miami Heat*
Kyle Lowry, Dwayne Wade, 13th pick in even numbered rounds, 18th pick in odd numbered rounds.
