Can we please give Ray Allen the respect that he deserves?  He has done everything that the Celtics organization has asked of him over the past 4 years.  When the Big 3 arrived it was Ray that had to adjust his game the most, but he learned to thrive in his new role as the ultimate 3 pt specialist, and never made a peep when all the credit was handed to KG.  And he was more than professional when dealing with the many trade rumors involving his name over the last few years.  He is by far the classiest professional athlete that I've ever had the pleasure to follow.

So why do people keep on claiming that his behavior this off-season is anything other than classy?  He is using the moratorium to mull over his options, as any sane individual would.  He is visiting the teams that have the most to offer him.  One of them happens to be the same team that knocked the Celtics out of the playoffs the past 2 years in a row- the most hated basketball team in the world (besides Duke, of course).  What would you have him do? ... Is he supposed to hang up on Pat Riley when he calls? ... Is Ray supposed to harbor the same intense hatred for Lebron that you do? ... Are you Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing kidding me?

I am so tired of seeing people making ridiculous posts dragging Ray's name through the mud.  Apparently he is entirely to blame for the MEDIA-PERPETUATED circus that has surrounded him this off-season.  He is the biggest FA still on the market- of course it's all over ESPN.  Of course every Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. on TV is yelling his opinion about it- that's what they do.  That's not what Ray is doing.  Ray is not doing anything to attract or encourage this attention.  He is doing his job.  No more, no less.  Now please have some respect for the man and what he has given us as fans.  Nobody works harder than Ray.  If he wants a change in scenery, so be it.  It would be heart-breaking to watch him play in Miami, but he has certainly earned the right to make this decision.

I don't think people think he didn't help us. But come on all the credit to KG was deserved. If it was just paul and ray we don't win the chip in 2008 or get there in 2010. So yes I love Ray and everything he has done for the team. I do hope he comes back because he is such a big help to this team.

I'm not at all saying KG doesn't deserve the credit.

I was just using that as an example of Ray's professionalism and class.  Because if it was just Paul and KG we don't win in 08 either.

Ray has given his all to this team. He has done so time and time again, and he's one of the classiest basketball players out there. If he does decide to go elsewhere, then that's just the way it is, but he's my favorite player in NBA history basically, and I really hope he stays with the Celtics, but I will support him wherever he goes, even if it's on the Heat. In fact, every team he has gone to has become my favorite team, but I don't see myself giving up on supporting the celtics if he does happen to leave, but I would really find it heartbreaking if he leaves. I honestly would.

Come on with these threads!!! WE RESPECT WHAT RAY DID/DOES as a player!!! I respected Jordan too but I still hated him and booed him every time I saw his face (because I hated that he was so good and the "enemy")!! Just b/c some people don't think we should grovel at his feet and/or doesn't care if he leaves for Mia, doesn't mean we didn't like what he did for the team or even that we think he is a bad player! Some people hate the "enemy" as long as they aren't on their team! I won't hate Ray if he joins the cHeat but I will boo him and wish bad play as hard as I can because I cheer on Celtics (after Shaq I no longer cheer for an individual) and the cHeat currently are our biggest "enemy" (LA may be trying to come back on the scene this season but they have been nothing the last 2)! I have come to love me some KG but if he leaves the Celtics, it would be only natural for me to forget what he did for the Celtics (in that moment) and wish my team kicks the crap out of his! I will go back to wishing all is well for KG after he retires, if he isn't playing my team, or if my team doesn't need his team to lose to help with standings or draft pics, etc.! Ray is great no denying it but I don't think he is the end all be all of this team and he isn't what he use to be... if he chooses Mia then good for him...
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
