The source being one of B. Roy's family members:

It's fairly interesting, because allegedly retired rather than risk being claimed off amnesty waivers by the Twolves.  All the talk was that he didn't want to be in Minnesota, but money talks...

I hope it will all work out for him. Loved watching him play when he was with the TrailBlazers, too bad that team is cursed

Really hope this works out. History and common sense are t on his side but I hope he defies them all.

  • It's what I do! It's who I am!
Knowing the Blazers luck, he will play healthy for another 8 years.

I'm fearing this is another Darius Miles scenario, but I hope it has a much better ending...good luck to Roy

Should've stayed retired -- isn't he at risk not to be able to walk if he continues to play pro basketball? Seems crazy for him to be trying to play again.

If it works out for a while every athlete in the world will be making trips to Germany for that procedure.

Good point, Roy. He must really miss the game.

Haven't heard anything concrete about the Nic Batum chase. Kahn and the Wolves seem to love poaching Blazers players and staff.

Linked below is a fantastic article on both Brandon Roy and Greg Oden that is worth a read.  The conclusion I have come to is that Portland's decision making bears some of the culpability for the downward trajectory of their careers.

There are some who think Brandon Roy can still play for several years and that Portland isn't unlucky, they just have a really bad medical staff.  Just as we have elite players like CP3 and elite coaches like Popovich, we have poor players like Brian Cook and poor coaches like Del Negro.  We have elite medical staffs like Phoenix and poor medical staffs like Portland.  It isn't dumb luck, it is science.

I would love for someone else's take on this.  Especially Roy if you have the time to read the article.

Apparently Portland has told him not to bother getting other offers, because they're not letting him go.

Um, yeah, that would be prudent. </sarcasm>

Call me crazy, but I really like this deal.

If Brandon Roy stinks: The Wolves have the cap space to burn and an inability to attract free agents, so the $5 million this year won't hurt at all.  And the $5 million next year makes him a tradeable expiring contract.

If Brandon Roy can play: It is a great deal.

And Adelman and Kahn both have deep connections in Portland.
