If Ray does choose the Heat who can only offer half of what we can offer it certainly says a lot about what he thought of last season. Says a lot about what he thinks of coming off the bench, playing with Rondo, and believing he will get consistent time.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...

As far as Ray is concerned, dueces. We got KG back, we have the Captain, we have Rondo. What Ray brings to the court (primarily 3 pt shooting at this point) is replaceable. If he leaves, the world doesn't end in Boston. Danny will go to Plan B and we'll be fine.
One problem I've got with this is now he'll be shooting those 3's for Miami. And we had a problem with guys not near as good as him hitting them on us in the last few games of the playoffs.
Peace through Tyranny

If you can eliminate some of the penetration you can limit some of his open looks.

I'm staying optimistic, and have accepted that nobody knows what Ray is going to do except for him and his family.

I think he is coming back and is just leveraging the celtics to get as much money as possible and a no trade clause as well.

Too much class? I agree that Ray is a super classy guy who always makes the right moves off the court but he's already played multiple years for 3 different franchises. It's not like Ray Allen was drafted 6th overall by The Boston Celtics in 1996 and is just now jumping ship to join the rival Miami Heat, he's a hired gun, he's moved from town to town his entire life and this would be nothing for him... everybody needs to stop convincing themselves that Ray Allen would be "betraying the Celtics"

Allen never "jumped ship." He was traded 3 times to those 3 different franchises.

Don't think he does it this time either.

Honestly its hard to get a feel on wat ray is going to do...I feel like nothing would surprise me if he resigned with the Celtics or went to Miami

He's gone.  I'd be shocked if he were back next season.  Which is a shame because our backcourt could have been something special.

Keep stroking em Ray!  Almost all the decent FA guards are gone.  I say have a nice weekend in FL then c'mon back home & sign w/ C's & break em off on Monday.

Gamesmanship.

You quoted a phrase that I didn't actually use, I don't think Ray is jumping ship at all... that's my whole point. I was also referencing his life as a child, Ray Allen constantly moved from military base to military base with his father.

Ray's salty. KG is still at the core of it all and, despite having the most promising young-gun right behind him, Pierce is still proving more valuable than Ray.

He's gone. And discussing health care in Boston... for kids with diabetes?!?!?... is not an issue. That's silly. He's salty. And he's gone because he's salty.

I reiterate my position: Ray has too much class to sleep with THE ENEMY cHeat.

I think you nailed the issue... think almost all of us assumed he was too classy to join the Heat... there were a lot of reasons it could happen, and maybe even should from his vantage point... but we just figured it was Ray - one of the classiest athletes in sport, not one to jump ship for your biggest rival/enemy...

so now that he is, it sucks x 10... letting us all down in the worst way

makes me want to leave my puppy outside in a thunderstorm. and i love her, so much.
