Jason Kidd has agreed to sign with the Knicks on a three-year, $9 million deal, according to sources.

Kidd will presumably backup Jeremy Lin if he is ultimately retained as expected.

The Mavericks were confident they were moving toward a deal with Kidd.

Jason Kidd is a backup at this stage of his career. He was dragging himself onto the court last year and contemplating retirement.

NY spent a ton of money on just a few players, they could have spared that 3 million/year to use on someone more useful.
