I actually wanted us to stock up on lots of young, high ceiling bigs that lack focus. I still think we should since Stiems is leaving, replace him with Anthony Randolph and we get:
Randolph, Sully, Fab Melo, JJJ, Sean Williams
Lots of insurance behind our starting bigs. Plus, with their high upsides there's a greater chance we get a contributor this year and a big of the future. And we get to really milk KG's contract for its worth.
I just really don't see why not.
Too many project big men already with Sullinger, JJJ, Stiemsma and Fab Melo.
I want proven established bigs alongside them. Dependable contributors.
Those are expensive though. Even the crappiest proven big costs more than we can afford. (And, again, I think Stiems is gone to Minny?)
Half these guys are "semi"-proven. I'm almost certain Sean Williams can be a better Stiemsma next year. Anthony Randolph hasn't seen steady playing time. JJJ has been with us for a year.
Having a healthy big when we need it is more important than having a "proven" one now imo. Our system just makes centers good. Even Semih did great before his injury. Krstic, Semih, JO, Shaq, Stiems...every single one of our semi-decent bigs were injured right when we needed them.
By getting them now they'd have experience with the team and with the plays. We just need a body inside imo.
