He has Green and Bass to work with, so is it possible that he's planning on something big to bring an unexpected talent to Boston?

I think DA wants Green to stick around. We need a better bench; our starting lineup is (and was, last year) pretty solid.

Can he sign & trade Green? He wasn't on roster at end of last season, I thought that meant while retaining the Bird Rights, C's couldn't use him in S&T. Not sure about this though.

I think our best chance is AB and BB (S&T), plus some salary filler, plus draft picks ( Melo / futures.) Not sure who that can bring back that would be a block buster. KG cannot be traded, Pierce won't be traded.... that leaves Rondo as the only other piece that could lead to a block buster.

Regardless, there's not a huge incentive for many teams to sign and trade with him for free agents.  And even if there were, I don't see anyone ponying up big for either or both of those guys.

I can't see it. I thought there was a potential for a big move on draft night with 2 firsts and Pierce, but since KG came back it looks like we are just gonna try it again and pray injuries don't happen.

I think there is nothing big brewing.

He can't sign and trade Green since he wasn't on our roster last year.

I don't know what would classify as a Blockbuster anyways.  Would trading AB, JJJ, a future first, and Bass to ATL for Josh Smith qualify?  I guess.  But that is about all I can see, and there is no way Danny makes that deal.

slim to none.

Danny's getting the gang back together but deeper in talent and with a  better chance to field a healthier team for the playoffs.

If he brings back Ray, Wilcox and Stiemsma, that's a really deep team.

exchange JET, Wilcox and Green for Dooling, Hollins and Sasha from the end of last year.

Exchange the 3 rookies (assuming the second rounder this year and Moore from last year make the team) for Williams, Pietrus and Daniels from last year.

C's now have 10 guys that have shown they can contribute in a regular rotation and 5 young guys that could show they're worth minutes.

i think it's possible. likely? it's too early to tell.
personally i think danny's going to go after dwight, but maybe later in the summer around august some time, so that the mandatory 1 month of waiting after signing is done so danny can trade some pieces.

most likely I would guess that Pierce will be gone.

He's actually on the decline if you look at the basketball metrics, but if he were to trade paul NOW, KG wont come back, terry prob wont come, etc. so he cant do it now... maybe he even waits until the seasons underway.

another reason i say this is because of the summer league roster. we have at least 3 big guys who can play center on there being joey dorsey, brackins, and sean williams -all of which were drafted in the past 5 years (and the worst draft spot was 33) i think, so they have talent and potential... enough to make the roster of a team starved of bigs.

Stiemsma is gone. (probably get something back in a sign and trade for him though)
Krstic will come back.
JJJ, maybe gone.
etuan moore probably gone.

danny has just too many pieces to work with NOT to try and pull a deal.

i would say:
Pierce, JJJ, Moore, (whoever the Stiemsma S&T brings back), say a S&T of Pietrus - and you have SOMETHING to work with that can match salaries with dwight.

and if not dwight, somebody else, probably a center. danny will go for it, but i doubt it will be today, or tomorrow, probably during the start of the season i would guess.

Well, if Green is earning 10 million a year (yeah right), he could be used as a big piece in a trade to get Howard (again, yeah right)

I think Ainge is trying to set up a team Rondo will be happy with when Pierce and KG walk away.  Green, Jajuan, and Bradley can all run with him, Melo catches a lot of alley oops, Bass can play pick and pop, and Sullinger just fell into his lap.  I don't see any of these moves setting up a Blockbuster, just prepping for the future while still trying to win in the present.

Isn't signing Garnett, Terry, Green, Bass 2 first round draft picks and possibly Ray Allen blockbuster enough for everyone? Shows you just how spoiled we have become in Boston when we can signed seven such excellent stars and players and people are still wondering if a blockbuster move is coming.

I wonder if the people in Charlotte, Toronto, Milwaukee, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Golden State, Sacramento, Houston, and a host of other NBA cities wish they could have the lack of blockbuster moves that the Celtics have had this off season.
