I've had it.. Looks like we need to go with what worked last year. Bass is a beast and I love what he brought to this team. Please give him 4 years 25 million and bring back Green and Ray. Throw in some others and call it an off-season. I think we would be a very good team along the lines of this.

Rondo/Terry
Bradley/Ray/Terry (because Avery is out for awhile Ray starts)
Pierce/Green/Pietrus
Bass/Sully/JJJ
KG/Melo/Steamer

I want the big boy bass back!

If he'd agree to the Hawes deal and take 2 years and 13 million, I'd be all for it.

I think we have to be cautious about giving him 4 years.  He plays the game he plays quite well (hitting open jumpers and dunks), but he doesn't create his own offense.  I think there's a shot JJJ and/or Sullinger could pass him on the depth chart this year.  And since all three are pretty much exclusively power forwards, there's not really any good way to get them all minutes.

When you combine that with the fact that (assuming he returns) Green will get significant minutes at the 4 (there's no way to get him enough at the 3 exclusively), and I think there's a decent chance Bass could be out of the rotation by next year or even earlier.

The problem then becomes how to trade him.  I think he has OK value on a 4 year deal 25 million if he keeps playing, but if he gets bumped from the rotation, his value will plummet, and we'll be stuck with an unmovable salary.

Bass as a S&T is too valuable a commodity for him to stay.

Bass does one thing well (shoot elbow jumpers) and that's about it.  Bad rebounder.  Mediocre defender; how many times was he the cause of defensive breakdowns last season?  Can't create his own shot.  Terrible offense when he tries to dribble.  Doesn't grab rebounds to start the fast break, and not athletic enough to run with Rondo on the break.

Tendency to not perform particularly well in the playoffs (which may be related to an increase in the other team's defensive intensity; he doesn't have a particularly quick release).

He has one skill - which he is very good at - but that makes him  a role player.  He's not a guy that I think we'll miss all that much, if Jeff Green is around.  I'm not a huge Green fan, but he should be able to give us most of what Bass did, while having a better overall offensive game and being able to get up and down the court with Rondo.

Depending on what he brings back in a S&T. If he brings back someone like Josh Smith ok. But I just don't see that happening and I think he helps this teams offense. I mean he makes KG go down to the post where KG can't be stopped by slower 5's. He lets Rondo get to the lane and kick out. IDK I just don't see what else is out there right now thats avaliable for Danny to say yeah thats an upgrade, over what he did for us last year.

Yup exactly.  I'm in the disappointed camp today.  Celtics need a real center who is not a rookie.  And don't tell me Kristic or Steimsma or Hollins, all those guys are chumps.  My preference was Camby but we used the MLE on Terry.  Kaman kinda sucks but I would have taken him in S&T of Bass with NO.
