Why haven't the OKC Thunder offered this package to solidify a title?

If I was the Thunder GM. I wouldn't stand pat & just think next year is our year. The Lakers getting Nash just made them co-favorites if not better than the Thunder, so I would jump in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes & go for it. The Magic would love to deal Howard out of the conference & this package might be the best yet.

OKC trades: James Harden, Perry Jones 3, Kendrick Perkins & 2 future 1st

Magic sends: Dwight Howard

Scenario #2
OKC trades: Serge Ibaka, James Harden & Kendrick Perkins

Magic Sends: Dwight Howard

What do u guys think? Who wins in this deal?

I agree.  If I am the OKC GM I saw my (young) team get soundly beaten in the NBA Finals by a Heat team that is not going away.  At the very least I need to focus my efforts on beating them.

But if LA lands Dwight Howard?  Suddenly I am not so sure I can even win the West again. Howard > Bynum.  And all I have to stop that is a declining Kendrick Perkins, who seriously hampers my offense when on the floor.

And I don't see Howard going to the Nets.  I don't see Orlando trading him to an Eastern Conference team.  He is most likely going to a Western Conference opponent.  What if he gets on the Clippers? 

Isn't OKC going to lose Harden or Ibaka anyways?  If Perkins is paid $8M, how much is Ibaka worth?  $12M??  I can live without Ibaka if I get Dwight somehow.

disagree -- it would take at least both firsts.  Harden is starter quality.  Jones is unproven.  Perk is limited as a player (love him for his time here but tbh he's a limited player) and the OKC picks would be very late in the draft.  In fact, OKC would probably have to throw in a  couple of other bench guys AND take on Hedo's contract as well to get Orlando to do a deal.

$$ will be hard enough to match without Hedo. 

Anyway, OKC should try to make this deal today, and then get on the phone with Ray Allen tomorrow and dangle the MLE.

Those saying this wouldn't be worth if for OKC are CRAZY.

It makes them a way better team.  WAY better.  Howard is twice the defender at least Ibaka is and you can find a way to replace Harden's production.  You can't find a Dwight Howard.

Not a fan of his personality, but the dude can play, and KD is already the leader so you don't need to ask him to do any of that.
