What do you make of KG signing for nearly half of what he was making last year? I think KG was easily a $15 to $16 mil guy last year - he was the second best big man in the playoffs, arguably one of the best.

I think he could have asked for and received more from the Celtics on a two year deal.

I think this is what happened. KG sat down with Ainge and Doc and said "I'll come back and at a great price for you - but go get me players with the money I'm leaving on the table. The only reason I'm coming back is to get another ring. You guys need to go all in - I already have by giving you a sweetheart deal."

Something along those lines...

Thoughts - doesn't anyone think KG is worth a fair amount more than roughly $10 mil per year average?

KG could have easily gotten more for another team as a FA, but didn't want to play for another coach/team, and this was clear, so I think both sides just came to a reasonable deal.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I don't feel he left much on the table, great fair value for both sides.

With how the 2012 free agency is shaping out, I think KG's contract was more than fair.

See:  Roy Hibbert, Gerald Wallace.

That KG contract is a bargain.

Mhm. That ludicrous Omer Asik is all you need to know to realize that KG's contract was a bargain.
