Certainly not the biggest fan of Hawes but that's not too bad of a deal..the guy is only 24

It's a good deal for Sixers. I was expecting him to get 8-10M per year. He is better and younger than Asik, Asik got 8M.

Wow, that's a bargain.

Hawes needs to fire his agent.

Great signing for Philly.

Hawes got robbed. He should have held out for a big pay day while he had the chance. He's easily worth more than Asik. I guess a sign and trade for Bass is within reason then?

Haha I was thinking that but I can't see Philly having even a slight interest in Bass. They're loaded at the four

Yea, I guess that's right, even if they amnesty Brand. Too bad, I never expected Hawes to agree to anything less than 8 million, I thought he would get 10.

Yea 6.5 is an absolute steal. He's not the most athletic but he's a legit 7'1 who can shoot well and pass well and he hasn't even touched his prime.

If Danny could of had him for that price (doubt it) I'd be pretty upset to see him not make that deal. Sadface

I think the deal is very fair. Other big men are getting paid wayyy too much recently. This to me seems about right.

This has got to be a one year deal with a player option for year 2 and Hawes hopes to stay healthy and cash in a year from now.  If not, Hawes shouldn't just fire his agent.  He should sue him.

You may be right that these big men are getting paid way too much but that's what the market dictates currently so that's what Hawes should of gotten.

I was also surprised that Philly only had to offer 2 years

Very good deal -- if Hawes can get back to where he was in the first 15-20 games of the season and sustain that level of play, this contract will be a bargain.

Agreed -- this reeks of bad work/advice from his agent.

Hawes should have been looking at somewhere around $40 million over four years.

He might have a red flag from his Achilles injury. Otherwise it seems pretty cheap.
