So says Chris Broussard:

Quote
Eric Gordon and the Phoenix Suns agree to a Maximum Offer sheet worth $58 million over 4 years, sources said.

Quote
Gordon told me his desire is to play in Phoenix, not New Orleans.

Quote
Eric Gordon told me this: "I strongly feel (the Suns) are the right franchise for me. Phoenix is just where my heart is.''

New Orleans will match, according to Wojo. But if Gordon is adamant about wanting to play in Phoenix, they may feel compelled to sign and trade.

wow thats interesting... max contract on an injury prone guy like Gordon, could either work well for them or really screw them over

It's possible that New Orleans could wind up having traded Chris Paul for Aminu, a couple months of Chris Kaman, Austin Rivers and a big trade exception. Will have to see how things play out.

Good for Gordon and Phoenix.

Kind of refreshing when a small market team signs a legit almost elite player.

Not sure why he is against playing for the Hornets considering their bright future.

For clarification, if Gordon actually signs the offer sheet, then New Orleans can't sign-and-trade him.  Of course, Gordon can threaten to sign with Phoenix in hopes that they'll broker a S&T.

Probably has something to do with the 10th overall pick in the draft.

Can't for the life of me figure why Gordon would want to play in Phoenix for cheap-ass Sarver or why Phoenix would give that amount of money Gordon?

Bad move for both parties.

I expect NO to match though, and as much as Gordon may pout, with a deal of 4 years there's very little leverage on his behalf.

Max money, and a medical staff that has done very well with injured players?

Yeah, it has to be purely about the money.

Since when has Phoenix ever shown a willingness to put an actual good faith effort into winning.  Obviously that must not be a concern of Gordon's.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
A potential Kendall Marshall-Eric Gordon backcourt is intriguing.
