how does a sign and trade for terry help boston??? we need to sign and trade bass for someone else...

Allows the Celtics to keep the MLE, and offer it to someone else.

I don't think there are any bigs out there for the MLE who are going to be more valuable than Bass.

Price at some point has to be factored in for Bass. He might be more talented but at what cost does his talent not make it worth it? I think 6.5 to 7 mill. I think 6 is probably too much.

C's may be forced to overpay a little if Terry takes the MLE. They won't be able to get another big then.

That's probably true, but we could save the maybe 1 or 2M from the Bass deal, and up Ray's offer to 7M per. I guess it boils down to what would you rather have:

Ray 7M
Camby 5M

or

Ray 6M
Bass 6-8M

Keeping in mind that giving Allen the extra money could sway him into re-signing. Keeping it at 6M we run the risk of him walking for nothing.

I don't think it's that easy. Camby may be just fine taking less money and staying in Houston where he calls home and ray may get discouraged by the Terry signing and opt to go elsewhere

I'm using Camby as an example. Say Haywood is amnestied, maybe he takes 3M per and it would leave us with 2M for Steimsma or Pietrus without using the LLE.

oh okay i gotcha..Im not a huge Bass fan and believe he was absolutely benefited from being on the floor with the other 4 and I dont want to overpay him but I dont want to see him walk so Im sure Danny will do something.

Also, I have a feeling that somebody (minnesota?) will give steimsma a larger offer than Danny is willing to match and I will be sad, such an easy player to root for.

There's no way that Haywood clears amnesty waivers.  I see that option a lot, and it's just not going to happen; some team will put in a $1.5 million claim and get his rights.

The team with the worst record gets the first bid and so on, correct?

Everyone submits anonymous bids that are essentially simultaneous.  The high bidder wins; if there's a tie, the team with the worst record wins.

Interested to see if Bass gets PAID. He was great for us all season and although would love to have him back, kind of curious to see what JjJ and Sullinger can do.

I'm interested to see what Bass can fish back for us with an S&T. Bass is most probably going to get PAID or at least get a lengthier and/or bigger contract regardless.

If we could convince Dallas to do a straight Bass S&T for Terry that would be fantastic.  The math would probably work too.  Bass' last deal was 4.25m, so as long as we timed the trade before we went over the tax threshold we could get 150% +1K back (6.475M).  That would easily accommodate Terry's 5M.

Then we could go back after Camby.  To put it plainly, while Bass is the better and younger player, Camby is a better fit based on what he can bring to the game. Camby is flat out better at defense and rebounding.  Also allows KG to be the PF again and would allow Green more time there as well, which would help allow Allen, Terry & Bradley to see appropriate minutes.
