Bench scoring and rebounding killed us last year.
Bench scoring has been an achilles heel. I'm hopeful Allen re-signs with the Celtics and a PG/SG quartet of Rondo, Bradley, Allen and Terry provides enough through the back court.

If the Celtics can sign Jeff Green, Jason Terry and Ray Allen to compliment Rondo, Pierce, Garnett, Sullinger and Melo then I feel pretty good about this team going into season 2012/2013. Whether or not it's a championship caliber roster we don't know, but it's great to see Danny trying things.

Terry is the perfect compliment to this Celtic team - a savvy veteran who has ‘been there’ and adequately fills a position of need. That said the money does concern me. Does this prevent the Celtics from adding talent down the road? More than likely it does. It is a risk but ‘ya gotta play to win’.

Good move.

good idea. signing terry is pretty much hinting allen is gone tho  :'(

I don't think so. Well. I hope not. I hope Ray sees the extra depth as an opportunity, and from a Celtic viewpoint, not from a personal "what does this mean for me?" viewpoint.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

Terrific signing. Terry is an excellent player who knows how to win. He is clutch. He has the swagger of a champion.

Now they need to sign Ray, too.  Not only would that give them a great 4 guard rotation but they can play small ball with a lineup that will drive other coached batty:

KG
Pierce
Allen
Terry
Rondo

Late in the game, when you go offense/defense,  you can sub in a big and Bradley for Allen and Terry.

Also, a great 5 to close a game when the other team has to foul. The last 5 years, in those situations, Rondo would throw it in and look for Ray first, Paul 2nd. Now Rondo will still be the trigger man but can look for either Ray or Terry, Paul third, KG 4th. All are good FT shooters.

like the swiss army knife 1/2 with 3pt range.  ideal fit with Rondo & Bradley.

using our MLE on a guard also means the pressure increases for Fab Melo & Sully to contribute RIGHT NOW.

also means we really need to get Green & Bass back for our non-smallball lineups...

I would have rather signed Mayo if the option was there, on age and future alone. Don't know if that was an option or not. If not, this is a good deal that becomes great if Ray signs.

Short term ...its a good thing...if you are really serious about contending.

I would REALLY think the money used for BASS would be better spend on Marus Camby. (in the short term for a run) ...again I'm thinking short term ...no rebuilding...its nearly impossible to do both at the same time in todays salary control NBA....

Love Terry, not a fan of his sock thing.

Really, great get for Danny and C's to have a Vet Backup for Rondo.

Now sign Ray, Jeff Green and Camby and we are good to go.

Disregard age. Terry is a considerably better and far more credentialed played than OJ Mayo.

It appears obvious that Danny and Doc are in win now mode whilst attempting to draft for the future. You always have to go with the better player who fits an obvious need.

Wow!! I hope this is serious news and not just rumours. Looks like Danny and Doc are rounding up savvy vets who know how to play. Hopefully Ray will resign but if he doesn't at least there is a foundation for a solid backcourt. Rondo, Avery and Terry working together on defense is going to give headaches to other teams. The deadbeat scoring problem by the bench shouldn't happen again this season. The most important thing is that a sought after free agent has chosen to play in BOSTON.

of course its a great move, we need bench scoring. Last year's bench scoring is barely 10-12 ppg.

Now that we have Terry, our next big moves are Ray Allen and Jeff Green. Having those 3 coming off the bench will definitely help with bench scoring. Those 3 can easily average 8-10 ppg each. All we need is a bench that can contribute at least 15-20 pts every night. With those, our scoring shouldn't be a problem.

Next should be our rebounding problem. The Big 3 + Rondo can carry us to the Conference finals (assuming we do not face the Heat). I am expecting to face the Heat again next year. If our bench and rebounding problem improves next year, I say we can take on the Heat.

My main concern is making sure we have a decent front court.
Would Kristic be a fall back option?  Doesn't excite me at all but who's out there if we lose Bass?
