Minnesota pursuing Steimsma?

David Kahn called Greg Stiemsma's agent back this morning as he said he would.
According to Chicago-based Mike Naiditch, the two agreed that Stiemsma and the Wolves are a good fit each other, they talked some contract numbers, nothing formally, there was no offer and the two will speak again on Friday while the Wolves continue to assemble this fluid puzzle while they pursue everyone from Nic Batum and Brandon Roy to Pau Gasol and others.

With the offer Asik got I'm scared somebody is going to overpay for Steimsa. The guy is no allstar but I think he fits in very nice here

If Minny is gonna throw money at him, let em' have him. He's a nice fit with us, no problems with the guy but if Kahn is gonna throw more than 2 or 3 million a season at the big fella, let em.

I don't expect the Celtics to match anything over the QO that they had, and I also expect some team to give him more than 1 million per season.

Greg's a nice story, but Fab Melo is the Celtics project now.

I think the Asik contract may be a killer for us once people figure out they can get GS for a lot less, but more than we'll pay.

He's not worth more than 2 or 3 million dollars per, until his play improves.

But Stiemsma will contribute to any team in the league. He's still developing, and is one of the best shot blockers in the league already. He'll have a solid career, wherever.

Hopefully the T'Wolves at least overpay him if they sign him. I'd love to see them screw up their cap situation with Batum and Steimsma.

I hope he gets the contract.  The kid came out of nowhere and proved he could do some useful things at the NBA level.  It would be pretty impressive if he works a multiyear deal for himself.  Happy for him.
