We need a center. I can't see KG starting at center and Bass at PF. I've heard Camby is interested then one minute isn't. He would be my first choice but if not him then who else?

Chris Kaman
Spencer Hawes
Convince Ben Wallace to come out of retirement? lol (but seriously..)

Wilcox on the cheap wouldn't be a bad option.

I've been a vocal proponent of the Camby-initiative for about a month and a half now.  It just makes so much sense for this team.

Danny has been trying to find a veteran center to pair with KG for a couple of years now.  It can finally come together this year with Camby.  His body is not deteriorating as much as Shaq/J.O's were when they signed up.

There is also:

Haywood (if he's amnestied)
Krstic (we have his Bird rights)
Wilcox (vet minimum guy)

Wouldn't mind Haywood as a backup center if he's amnestied.

Wouldn't mind having Wilcox back either.

I think that'd be a good look, and then use Bass as our first bench big.

Other than Camby I'm not sure if better bigs are available at the moment.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
If not Camby then Krstic.
I'd be very worried about one of Camby or KG going down though.

Is there any list of Camby's wants in free agency?

* Starting spot
* Contender?

  anything else?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Wilcox on the cheap wouldn't be a bad option.

so you're starting wilcox?

I would start Brandon Bass.

I liked Wilcox over Bass as a starter last year (in a 18-24mpg starting role with Bass playing 26-28mpg as the main backup big man) but I don't think Wilcox can be relied for that coming off of heart surgery. Only willing to depend on Wilcox to be a third string big.

I would also start Brandon Bass ahead of Marcus Camby and Chris Kaman. I prefer both guys as backup centers behind Garnett (with some playing time alongside KG in the second unit) rather than as starters.

I don't want to get old and slow again. I liked having some quickness in that starting unit last year. I would only go away from that if there is a large upgrade available. Otherwise, I am keeping the Bass-Garnett combo.

Then you're sticking KG back where he's not comfortable? You really think he can stay healthy banging with centers for 82 games? I have serious doubts...

Kwame Brown -- I'd have to think some more on this but I would be leaning to taking Kwame over Camby. Mainly because I am worried about Camby's age and health especially on a multi-year contract. Not sure for how much longer Camby will out-perform Kwame.

Anyway, in terms of signing a true center, Kwame Brown would be the other name on my list along with Kaman and Camby. Probably second in between Kaman (first) and Camby (third). It looks like Kaman is going to be priced out of Boston's market.
