The Sacramento Kings selected UC Santa Barbara guard Orlando Johnson with the No. 36 pick of the 2012 NBA Draft and then traded him to the Indiana Pacers for cash.

36. Sacramento
Orlando Johnson SG
UC Santa Barbara, Sr
37. Toronto
Quincy Acy PF
Baylor, Sr
38. Denver
Quincy Miller SF
Baylor, Fr
39. Detroit
Khris Middleton SF
Texas A&M, Jr
40. Portland
Will Barton SG/SF
Memphis, So
41. Portland
Tyshawn Taylor PG
Kansas, Sr
42. Milwaukee
Doron Lamb SG
Kentucky, So
43. Atlanta
Mike Scott PF
Virginia, Sr
44. Detroit
Kim English SG/SF
Missouri, Sr

Man, with Ray Allen now pretty much only able to shoot, it seems like a fairly comparable all around player could have been acquired to complement or replace Ray Allen.

A couple million + #51 should have been enough to get one of the guys I bolded above, not to mention Quincy Miller.

Barton, Lamb, and even Tyshawn Taylor had borderline first round draft grades, and would have been very useful to back up Rondo and Bradley.

I really love Danny's first round picks, but I can guarantee we will regret not trading/buying up a higher 2nd rounder.

No.

Two 1st rounders plus waiting for JJJ to develop (not to mention the other 2nd round players), how many inexperience players does this team need?

The ghost of marshon brooks resurfaces yet again. It is what it is. Kris Joseph is a fine draft pick IMHO.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Instead of Joseph, not in addition to.

Will Barton was compared to Marshawn Brooks, and had some 3 versatility as well.

Doron Lamb seems like another Mario Chalmers, but bigger. They were both NCAA Championship sharpshooters who fell to the second round.

Tyshawn Taylor would have been an immediate upgrade over Moore. Super athletic defender, long enough to guard SGs, great dribble drives, and great shooting ability. Like a shorter Tony Wroten with a much better shot.

Ray Allen @ $6 million in 2013-14?

Excuse me.  Are you a relative to JJJ?

Seriously.  The guy shot 31% from three, good for 109th of 122 players who took enough three to officially rank in 3-point%.  His defense is mediocre at best.  Let. It. Go.

We won't have enough roster spots to have four rookies make the team out of camp.  Most likely, next year's roster will look something like:

Rondo
AB
Pierce
KG
Bass (or MLE replacement)

Ray Allen or JET Terry
Jeff Green
Stiemer
Dooling (or vet-min PG equivalent)
Pietrus (or vet-min SG equivalent)

JJJ
Sully
Melo

I know not all of these guys will return, but I'd bet most of them do (or their roles are filled with equivalent veterans).  That leaves two spots open for Moore, Kris Joseph, Sean Williams, and any other veterans/projects we might want to sign.  It's hard to bring in four rookies unless you do a COMPLETE rebuild.  And, we could be really tight for spots if they re-sign Bass AND bring in someone like Camby, or re-sign Ray Allen and bring aboard JET (which I doubt happens, although they profess that to be the goal).

EDIT: Forget it, thought this was an "in addition to Joseph" proposal.  Sure, fine - higher pick would have been better.  Doubt it makes much difference in the end.

John?

Or Taylor? :P

The answer is absolutely not, though. The roster is already filling up as it is, if we want to bring everybody back.

Rondo/Terry/Moore
Bradley/Allen/Pietrus
Pierce/Green
Bass/Johnson/Sullinger/Wilcox
Garnett/Melo/Steimsma

With Joseph on the outside looking in.

Which of those players would you want to get rid of for a second round rookie if we're trying to contend right now? As it stands, either Moore or Joseph will have an uphill battle to make the team. Sure, we might not be able to retain Allen, Bass, Wilcox or Steimsma, but I'd rather try to get them back than give up future assets for a guy who is bound to do nothing for this year's squad.

If I was in charge of the Celtics draft, we would have taken Sullinger, PJ3, and Quincy Miller.

As time has shown, though, it's a good thing I'm not in charge of the draft.
