I think we're all overlooking him. Personal issues have gotten the best of his career so far.

High basketball IQ. Plays defense. Athletic.

Last year, he was playing off pure instinct. No plays. Not even a defensive scheme.

He can easily be the next Stiemsma for us, possibly more.

Hopefully Stiems stays, Williams pans out and we get an insane shotblocking duo off the bench.

Sean Williams does not have a high basketball IQ IMO.

I'd be surprised if he makes the roster.  I think Danny signed him as a fallback in case we struck out in free agency.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

I, for one, want to see Williams given a real chance. He's super-athletic, and great on D—I expect to see him in both summer leagues, and hopefully he makes the roster. He's better than Hollins, and maybe better overall than Steamer.

Agree.  Hope he's on the roster next year.  Give him a chance.

Agreed.  His floor position, even at BC, was terrible.

He cares more about making highlight reel blocks than he does making fundamental defensive plays.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
The consensus on him from multiple NBA coaches was that he was an extremely intelligent guy and had a VERY high bball IQ.
He just had a 'lazy' factor that couldn't be overcome and was happy making a million dollars.
Hopefully our locker room can change that for the better.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

We will see what he is capable of in summer league. I think I saw a report that he will attended.

At $900K, he's almost free. The potential is exciting. I'd bet he shows well in summer league and finds a spot on the roster.

He is supposed to be a very smart guy, but he doesn't look like he knows what he is doing on a basketball court.

I agree.  If anyone were excited about him, we'd be hearing about it by now.  But neither player, nor coach, nor GM mentions him as part of their future.

Why would anyone talk about a guy on a non-guaranteed contract? He is already signed, and nothing happens with him until after Summer League, when he might be waived.
