Before his season ended he played really well, particularly with Rondo.  Should be an easy get, IMO, on cheap money too.  With Sully and Melo in the mix, we will certainly need another veteran big man presence.

We lost his bird rights by waiving him so we will either offer him the MLE, which I doubt because we have Melo and Stiemsma if the latter stays.

The MLE could/should be spent on a better player.

I'm thinking vet minimum all the way. I mean the guy is coming off heart surgery, and although he played reasonably well he didn't set the world on fire.

Wilcox will only be here on the vet minimum, which looks like the case for Pietrus and Dooling as well.  I would endorse all of those contracts.

The only problem with Wilcox is that we have such a logjam at the 4, he will be getting all of his minutes at the 5.  Not a huge problem, but that will be his role.

Wilcox was one of the big surprizes.  He came to the team injured .  At one point things were looking bleak , JO was dying and we were digging his grave, the team was not clicking for a 100 reasons. Wilcox came in a made a nice impact on the middle part of the season during a ruff time.  He really lifted up the team (helped KG and PP) when things looked bleak.

ROndo seemed to like to team up with him.  He has great hands and loves to run the court.

I don't see anyone close to his talent and size for the price DA can afford to spend.. Plus he enjoyed playing for the Celtics.   He was always smiling and trying hard when the chips were down. Much like Pietrus .

Wilcox , Pietrus are GOOD for the team . They are ALL IN guys who love being Celtics .  This is important,  you want the team glued together from ONE end of the bench to the other end ...all on the same page.  I'm for bringing back Dooling at min. , because does his job ( poorly sometimes) but always plays hard and NEVER GIVES UP or SULKS.  I hate watching Bobcats or other poorly organized clubs , the players just look beaten before the game starts.

Pietrus, Wilcox , and Dooling are always upbeat.   This has a suttle inpiration effect that echos down the bench.

He played the 5 mostly this past year anyways, not an issue.

I'd be happy with him at a vet min. contract certainly.
