On Ray:

Quote
We really want him back and I really think at the end of the day that he will be back because this is such a good fit for him. We need him back and we're trying to get him back. We can offer him more money. Yes, there are a couple of teams way under the cap who might be able to offer more money. But other than that, we can offer him more (than Miami or Memphis). He already lives here. He knows his role and everything else. It's a stretch for me to see him go somewhere else.

On Jeff:

Quote
We're going after Jeff. We're going to get Jeff. I believe that, yes. Obviously, you never know, until it's signed, but Jeff has a great relationship with the team, the players and he really wants to play here. So I think if we get the numbers right, he'll definitely come to us. And if we don't, if somebody comes in and blows him away, then it's a business thing because I really think he wants to play in Boston. He loves the crowds. He wants to play here and that gives us an advantage.

Always nice to hear a little confidence. Doc seems iffy but confident about Ray, and pretty secure about Green. I think they are pretty clearly priorities 1a and 1b, and then we'll get to Bass and Pietrus when we get to them.

yeah the more I think about it the more I hope Ray resigns, as long as hes used as a 6th man... I'd rather him and the MLE than Ray walk and needing to use the MLE to replace him. If we keep Ray, we're a deeper team though I think hes more of a role player now

I wish the Celtics weren't in on Green.  I'm just not a big fan.  He's not a talented enough scorer to be a lethal scoring threat off the bench and he's too poor of a rebounder to be an undersized 4.  He's very meh.  Not only is he not a master in any one area, he's below average in many like rebounding, passing, defense and shooting. He's Marvin Williams.  It bothers me that a significant piece of precious cap space might be used on Marvin Williams.

On the wing, I much prefer Pietrus.

A 7 man rotation of rondo, bradley, pierce, bass, kg, green, and allen is a very solid start... I still would like to add some more legit athleticism and all around play at the 4 spot with a bass sign and trade. Hopefully we could get campy with the 3 mil exception and pull a surprise out of a hat landing a bigger fish with the mle giving us a nice 9 man rotation.

That's what it's going to take though if we want any chance at going all the way hopefully Ray is on board

I think if they don't resign Ray and renounce Green, they'll have more than the MLE to sign free agents.  My dream scenario is replacing Ray, Bass, Steamer and Green with Jason Terry, Camby, Pietrus, Sullinger and Melo.  The latter will have a more explosive second unit scorer and much better rebounding on both ends.

If the Celtics can add Camby and Sullinger in one offseason, they'll be a top 10 rebounding team on both ends next season.  Their biggest weakness will become a big strength.

rofl get outta here wit dat comparison he's WAY more athletic nd a better scorer then Marvin.
nd Pietrus is WAY more inconsistent then Green has Pietrus averaged 16ppg in a season like Jeff Green does for his career?

Thursday night Doc said 'Kg is coming back. I havent spoken to him but he's coming back.' KG was back on Saturday.

If he says we're likely getting Ray and Green, we're likely getting Ray and Green.

Despite all the talk of how we might go sign some free agents this summer after one day of free agency it seems like we will go after our own then bring one guy in at the MLE. Bringing everyone back then adding Jeff Green, someone at the MLE and the rookies will make us a better team than last year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

with the free agent pool being so dry it actually seems like the best option for a deep team. Not to mention that I personally have a good feeling about these rookies. I think Sullinger will be contributing from day 1

Yeah, Doc isn't one to talk out of his behind and whatnot.

I think there's too much over speculation when it comes to the reasons Ray wouldn't come back. There's way too many reasons where he would want to come back. And getting Doc's word on the matter makes me feel that much better.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

The thing I wonder is where does this leave Bass? Ideally, Sullinger can walk in day 1 at 80-85% of Bass's production. But, that means Sullinger stays healthy. Risky proposition at best, but if we resign Bass, we're on the hook with him for 3-4 years.

Tough decision to reckon but in Danny we trust.

This is what I'm wondering about.

Green can also play the 4, and JJJ and Sullinger form the back end of the rotation at PF.

Seems like a minutes crunch for Bass.

Would Danny give him that many years? I don't think so 2 the most or 3 if on the low then if not lets him walk
