Allen can do the two things the Celtics are looking for this offseason: shooting and scoring. It’s not a surprise that they have been linked to O.J. Mayo, Jamal Crawford and Jason Terry. A team official insisted on Sunday morning that Allen is still very much in their plans and they hope to not only re-sign him, but also add another scorer in free agency.

So who do you want ? I would say Mayo because he is the youngest and still has some upside, but I doub't we could land him with the MLE (5mil a year).

So it comes down to Terry and Crawford. Terry is the easy choice for me. He is 3 years older, but a better and more consistent shooter and has big game experience .
The possibility that we will finally be adding an explosive scorer off the bench has got me excited !

Come on Terry!

All 3 would be great additions. There is so much interest in OJ Mayo right now, his price tag will likely be too high to make him worth it. Terry is a big game player, is a good leader and exactly what we need. If we can't get Terry, I'd be fine with Crawford, while he experienced a poor shooting year last year, he can score as good as anyone off the bench and thats exactly what we lacked last year.

How about a possible bench of ..

PG- Hinrich
SG - Terry/Allen
SF - Green
PF- Sullinger
C - Camby or someone else

I would love to see the JET fly into logan...plus, his contract is likely to expire with KG/Pierce etc. since he is older.

I have a feeling Mayo is going to want more $$ and more years...and is it worth it for ainge to throw that sort of $$/years to a player like mayo? I guess it depends on if ainge feels he has some untapped potential

I think one of these three would only be added if Ray signs elsewhere and we need a replacement. Its pointless to add ray and one of these player that would be brought in for the same reason.

You must not have read the Yahoo Article today which quotes Doc as saying they are trying to bring back Ray Allen as well as sign Jason Terry.

Bradley is going to be out until december apparantly...so whomever we get is going to start..

the thing is, Jason Terry can handle the ball/run the offense...so he can effectively back up rondo(and play with Ray on the court)

If we get Ray and another guy on that list then we only have enough money for Green before we are going to the vet minimum contracts.  I think the right play for is Ray, Green, and a big guy.

signed KG for 11 mil
Resign Ray for 6 mil
Resign Green for remaining 8 mil

you are at 58 mil and at the cap, but we have bird rights for Bass so we can go over the cap by offering 7 mil a year, we can go up to 70 mil signing our own players I believe before not having a full MLE.

meaning we could sign everyone and still sign Terry for the 5 mil a year MLE
Am I right about this ?

If you're right, then we can always squeeze Nenad in for $5 mil and still not get to $70, right?

I really don't think Jeff Green is going to get 8 million per year. I think he gets much closer to 5-6 for a couple of years, to prove his health and himself to the organization.

Yeah I think 5m is fair for Green at this point. if he has a big year he gets a raise plain and simple

One example of 15 player contracts that stays under the $74 million "apron."

16,790,345    Pierce
11,000,000    Rondo
 1,630,800    Bradley
 1,089,240    JJJ
   762,195    Moore
 1,029,389    Stiemsma
 2,134,700    (2) Rookie 1sts
11,000,000    KG
 6,000,000    Allen
 8,000,000    Green
 6,500,000    Bass
 5,000,000    MLException
 2,000,000    BiException
    473,604   Joseph
73,410,273

No MP, KD, or CW, but you could get them too with the BAE and by splitting the MLE and letting one of the sophs or rookies go.
