The Toronto Raptors have offered free-agent point guard Steve Nash a three-year, $36 million contract, according to sources.

Nash, a two-time NBA MVP, has spent the past eight seasons with the Phoenix Suns, but has made it a point in recent interviews to stress that he's "open to everything" and say he'll listen to any team that calls. However, industry sources monitoring the free-agent market have identified Toronto as one of four team that pose the greatest danger to the Suns in terms of signing Nash away, including the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.

Almost makes the Blazers offer to Hibbert look good in comparison.

Take the money and go home Nash!

This offer makes sense from an economic perspective...because Toronto needs to fill those seats, and given Nash's status as the greatest Canadian basketball player of all time, he is a guaranteed draw. He's probably worth more to TO than any other team.

sure, but at this stage in his career though, is he really any better than Jose Calderon, who they will dump to pay Nash 12 million a year?

Attractive offer. Pity the Raptors have such a weak team.

Yes, far better actually.

Nash led a very limited Suns team to a .500 record this year.

Calderon lead a similar (in my opinion more talented, but close enough) Raptors team to a record 20 games below .500.

Nash's team was 6th in the league in FG%. Calderon's was 23rd. Nash's team scored about 8 more points per game.

In terms of winning basketball games, not even close.
In terms of legitimizing the Raptors and giving them an identity, not even close.
In terms of revenue, ticket sales, and finances, not even close.

As long as he doesn't go to the Heat.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

It would work well for both parties. I hope he says "yes" and heads north. It will be a nice homecoming.
Celtics fan for life.
