Kevin Garnett signed for 3 yrs 11mil give or take.  Now offering Ray 6 mil that's 18 mil total if we sign Ray.
Leaving Boston between 14 mil, 7 mil if we sign Ray.  Jeff Green would be around 7-8 mil his agent would offer a home town discount for how the organization handled Greens injury.

So here's my understanding. Sign Green for 7 leaving 7 mil go after Mayo.
Sign Celtics Free agents using bird rights.  Use MLE and Vet Min for Camby and Johnny Flynn.

I think you're confused.  You can't use cap space and bird rights.  It's one or the other.  If you're giving Mayo 7 mil that suggests we renounced the rights to either Jeff Green or Ray Allen.

We have two options:  we can try to sign other teams' free agents with our cap space, or instead we can retain our own free agents (Bass, Green, Krstic, Ray), and use the MLE.  The MLE is $5 million if we keep our total payroll (including the MLE) under $74 million, or $3 million if we exceed that amount.

There's no realistic way to sign Mayo, Ray, and Green, unless Mayo is taking the MLE.

Thanks for clearing this up.  14 mil isn't a lot. I would rather pay Mayo then 6 mil for Ray considering the future but Jeff Green has to get signed.  Wow money went quick.

I like the idea of resigning the Celtics players to the point where the Celtics still have the full MLE. 


That MLE should then be used for a seasoned big man that can defend the middle.

We are 14 mil under the cup, but we can have full MLE if our payroll is about 67min, so we have approximatly 22,5 mil to resign Allen, Green, Bass and Stiemsma.
So if Ray accepts 6 mil, Green and Bass 6 mil we could even resign Stiemsma AND Pietrus or Dooling and have full MLE for someone (Kaman, Mayo, Crawford...) and BE to play with...
