I don't think some understand how much he is going to get as a FA.

couldn't we sign and trade Bass for whatever Kaman wants( within reason)?

We could give Kaman a 3 yr 8 mil per contract by signing and trading Bass along with a pick or something , or can you not package signed players with picks or other players?

Yes they could, it's probably the only way Kaman comes here. If the Josh Smith rumors don't come to fruition, I could see them working that route. But would he want to go to New Orleans? Or would New Orleans want him? They already have Carl Landry

would likely have to be a 3 way trade, what teams are rumored to be interested in Bass around 7 mil ?

Pacers, Nets, Mavs, Hawks have all expressed interest out of teams that have, or could have, cap space. Knicks and Heat are interested too for what it's worth.

He has a great low post game and can get you a basket by just throwing him the ball down low(he is like a 7 ft version of Sullinger).

Kaman has about the same standing reach as Sullinger does.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Kaman for the MLE over two years I would be happy with, since he is over 7 feet and has some skills, but anything more than that or over more years could turn out to be a Raef LaFrentz type of mistake and I don't want to hamper our team with an aging Kaman.

People talk about Kaman like he is this amazing center, but he is coming off of a season where there were literally no stars on his team. He was decent when he was younger and had a good spring, but in no way, shape, or form would I take him over Jeff Green.

PG: Rondo     / Bradley          / Dooling
SG: Bradley   / Ray              / Moore
SF: PP        / Green            / Pietrus vet min
PF: KG        / Sullinger       / JJJ
 C: Kaman     / Steamer         / Melo

I would rather keep Garnett starting at center and bring Kaman off the bench.

PG: Rondo, Dooling
SG: Bradley, Ray
SF: Pierce, Green, Pietrus
PF: Bass, Sullinger, JJJ
C:  Garnett, Kaman, Stiemsma, Fab Melo

I'd like to see Kaman get minutes alongside Garnett too but in the second unit. Give Kaman around 24mpg off the bench.

I'd rather play with more speed than a power game -- why I am less interested in Kaman as a starter.

Just a bit of info for those thinking we can just sign-and-trade Bass for any random player in the 6-9mil range.  Bass will be a base year comensation player.  Only half his salary will count for s as outgoing salary.

It will be very difficult to trade him without involving a team under the cap and including other outgoing players on our behalf.

I expect Kaman to stay in New Orleans. I think they will offer him a bigger contract than anyone else now that Emeka Okafor has been traded to Washington.

Keep Kaman to play alongside Anthony Davis.

Portland is looking for a C.  Apparently they are offering Hibert the max.

Pacer's could match or they could be looking to sign a C.

There are teams out there with the ability to sign him.

I think Kaman is a perfect fit here with the style of offense we play. We should be trying to obtain him, as the reason we weren't able to exploit the Heat more and had to go 7 games with the 76ers was due to our lack of presence in the post.
